is it a blip, a hiccough or a full on collapse ? Leds are falling apart againWas it 2 points dropped or one point gained ?Have the crowd turned a bit on Bielsa or was it just the decision to take off Bamford that brought the boos ?Ironically most fans wanted Dallas to be the man subbed and yet he turned into our saviour The Boxing Day fixture is the one I always look at first because there are no trains, so over the years I have misssed one (Chelsea 4 1) , got a coach to one and left 25 mins early to get home (Graysons first game in charge) Got Rob wood ex lister out of his voluntary Bates inspired exile (Coventry ?) and then last season got my daughter in law to sit outside McDonalds whilst we wathced the bet 5 minutes of the season (Blackburn)This year we found a Manchester based Leeds fan to take us - only snag he set off a speed camera so we had all the 3 pts in the bag already and today is a real 6 pointer jokes. A visit to the Drysalters put us back in the Christmas mood, a mood that did not last long If any team has got the measurre of us this season it is Preston - up yours Swansea and Fulham managers your 'plans' only worked due to a missed penatly and a ridiculous one - Preston know how to stop us playing and then shithouse their way to a point or two. For me they are this seasons Birmingham against us . a team that prevented us playing and caught us out, so at least we have 2 points v Preston as opposed to the two defeats v Brum last time We started poorly as they denied us time and space, we all new they would not be able to keep it up for 90 mins so it was important we did not go behind and give them something to cling to. Unfortunately they got a good breakaway, ran through the middle of our non existent midfield and ended with a man over who fired into the net 0 1 We did get a bit of a grp in the last 15minutes but never looked like scoring really the second half was similar, they bullied, harried and harassed us, getting away with lots of niggling fouls, play acting and time wasting in front of a very lenient referee who seemed content to allow it The presssure did begin to build and despit a poor performcne this team do have spirit and character and never give up. Bamford was oddly subbed for eddie as the crowd cheered his name and booed the decision. Eddie tried to score a goal to leave us on a high (if he is going to go) and we got closere and closer to th equaliser. Many fans thught it was not going to be our day as Alioski had a header well saved, then another chance was scrambled round the post and then when he hit the post with a rasping shot, we all thought that was that, aas Preston defended like demons - i bet they do not win on Saturday ! But as I say we are built of sterner stuff this year and with a bit of luck , a massive deflection, a fierce shot by Dallas in the 89th minute went flying into the top corner and limbs went flying all round the ground. More relief than cellebration but it keeps Preston away from us and keeps our 8 point gap So a poor performance by too many players - Alioski, Harrison and Bamford all worked themselves into the ground, others had a day to forget We need to get Roberts fit or find anothere solution to the abscence of Pablo if thsi blip is not going to become more serious Dave Sent from Sky Yahoo Mail on Android ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE

They had a close-up of Alioski after the game he looked like he was going to throw up he was so exhausted. Re: [LU] preston
Only time will tell Dave - but at the moment I am not given to pessimism about us. The equaliser was going to come, they had hardly been out of their box for the 10 minutes prior. I still think we’re a match for anyone and pretty much everyone else would swap our ‘problems’ for theirs. Preston ran hard for 30 minutes, they had a plan and worked to it and it paid off - their goal was a good counter attack, although I’m sure MB will be having words about the getting caught in possession that started it and the gaping hole down the middle of the park that they ran through. They nearly managed to eke it out to 90 minutes through gamesmanship (or ‘game management’ as I think it gets euphemistically called these days), cheating and some good last ditch defending. Kiko - had another steady enough game - despite that early dash to a tackle he didn’t really make, and looking at replays of the goal, I think he should have been out faster, but he is still our best keeper for several seasons (including him, last year). White and Cooper are coming up against it in recent games and just about holding firm Ayling is a conundrum - wisdom has it he is a better full back than Dallas - he is not better at the going forward side of a FB’s game and his defending seems to be less sure than previously, to me. Of course that may be the lack of cover he is getting from Costa. While Dallas who is in his best season for us, still seems lost in midfield. Costa again, seemed a luxury. Philips - struggles when not given time Klich & Alioski- get through the miles but often seem to misplace passes…or shoot rashly Harrison - tons of work again and some better crossing this time - again his last 10 games have been about his best for us Bamford - I like him - he works his bollocks off - yes a few more goals would be nice but I think he is creating the gaps for others to exploit - he gives us a shape and purpose Eddie came on for Bamford - against many people’s wishes by the sounds of it but to be fair he was direct and fast and made a difference. This draw felt way better than the Cardiff draw…funny that. Nick > On 27 Dec 2019, at 10:23, nat...@sky.com wrote: > > > is it a blip, a hiccough or a full on collapse ? Re: [LU] preston
What I like is that we haven’t got anywhere remotely near how good we were first half of last season with Roofe and Saiz, but we’re still in the mix. Time will tell if we have the right squad this year. Eddie coming on late works well against teams that have ran themselves ragged dealing with Bamford, but can’t imagine Arsenal will be happy for him to stay. Equally, no decent striker will come here to do the same role. On Fri, 27 Dec 2019 at 16:43, Nick wrote: > Only time will tell Dave - but at the moment I am not given to pessimism > about us. Re: [LU] preston
Kind of disagree. There have been games this season where I think we have been better than at any other point. The first 50 mins against Cardiff was at times unbelievable.
