Well, another totally underwhelming transfer window.  Leeds have the smallest
squad in the league.  No experienced striker cover, no No.10 type player at
all, no full backs in reserve and the biggest injury list ever.

Of course there is no need to make any signings!!  Is this Bielsa not wanting
anyone or the recruitment team just incapable of getting deals done?

Still.  We only need one win a month to stay up, so hopefully will manage that.
Where the Feb victory will come from is another question.

Re: [LU] Transfer Window

2022-01-31 Thread MATTHEW GAYNOR via Leedslist

I think the lack of midfielder is a bit weird - as the club have tried
to sign various of them Cuisance, O'Brien, Gallagher, Aaronson - and its
surprising they cant find anyone else.
Striker - not so bothered - if we buy another one, then Gelhardt has no
path to the team
No.10 - whatever we think Bielsa thinks that Rodrigo, Klich and Roberts
are No.10s
Full-backs - the answers are Stuart Dallas, Stuart Dallas and Stuart
Dallas

I'm probably more worried by reserve keeper than anywhere else.

The club do know more about return dates from injuries than us though

Couldn't agree more Dave. This fits in with my view that the club has to be
prudent too, given where we are vis-a-vis the FFP cap. These two lads might

seems a lot of money for an unproven striker who doesn't seem to score much.
Forshaw and DeBock seem decent additions.

Re: [LU] Transfer window - did we do okay?

2018-02-01 Thread {broken-address}
I think the guys we brought in were okay, I'm more concerned with the gaps we
haven't filled. We lost the entire spine of last season's 7th-place-finishing
team - keeper, center-half, ball-winning midfielder and 30-goal-a-season
center-forward - and haven't replaced any of them with a player who's as good,
let alone better (although Felix has shown recent signs of improvement). It
should be no surprise, therefore, that we're 10th right now. I continue to
believe that this season our most glaring absence has been a dominant,
no-nonsense midfielder who tackles hard, wins the ball and distributes it
smartly, the sort of player that as the teams are lining up in the tunnel the
opposition players glance over and think, "I don't fancy going up against him
today." In Leeds terms, think Collins/Bremner/Vinnie/Batty/Dacourt. We are
being overrun too often. Like everyone else, I'd like a free-scoring forward as
well, but I think that if could just get better control over midfield and feed
the
ball to Alioski/Saiz/Hernandez, our front four will get goals.

I am also more than a little surprised that the club decided not to at least
get a journeyman center-half in on loan, given the fact that if Pontus gets
booked in the next game and Pennington's injury is worse than thought, we will
have precisely zero senior center-halves available for the following game.

Cheers!

Sean

Any thoughts on how we did in the window? Biggest unkown for me is Roberts,
seems a lot of money for an unproven striker who doesn't seem to score much.
Forshaw and DeBock seem decent additions.

[LU] Transfer window

2013-09-02 Thread Robert Heath
What we want is.
1) Obviously none of our good players (Byram Lees Diouffy) leaving
2) Several of our crap players leaving
3) A general exodus of top players from other clubs in our league up
to desperate PL outfits.

So far 1 is OK.2 is not, although there are rumors White might
leave for Barnsley...and 3 .well Reading Wigan have lost
players so far.

Still a few hrs to go though.

[LU] transfer window closes

2011-02-01 Thread Damian Walsh
And leaves us with our best team unchanged. I for one think that's good
news - I think that they are good enough to go up as they are and it would
have been daft to gamble on changes that frankly aren't warranted.

O'Brien McCartney and also Johnson Kilkenny are proof enough for me that
SG (and the club behind him) are serious about finishing this season with a
real go at going up.

[LU] Transfer Window

2011-01-31 Thread Dave Sowden

I awoke here in Singapore just before the transfer window shut. We have had
nigh on 4 days of incessant rain here and the view from the the closing of the
transfer window is similarly gloomy.
I know we needed to cut the wage bill and much of the outflow from ER is to be
welcomed however
What happens if/when Connelly gets booked at hull tonight? What happens if, in
addition, O'Brien and/or Bruce is injured?
Should our rivals win their games in hand we drop out of the play-off places
and if our form remains as patchy as it has been since the qpr game we could be
adrift by the time the loans-that-are-long-enough-for-play-offs window opens we
could be adrift.

I guess Bromby, Naylor and Parker offer sufficient defensive cover until

A lot of our rivals' games in hand seem to be against each other, so no
need to panic yet - points will be dropped...

Has anyone wondered why Robbie Keane has never really made it with any club he
has been with ? He's had good spells but none of the clubs have been too
unhappy to let him go. He's had a hell of a lot of clubs. When he was at Leeds
the biggest impact he had was coming off the bench. I remember one game at
Maine rd where he demolished them. I think he lacks pace and also doesn't have
a set position so he doesn't fit in to many teams style of play.
Obviously at Championship level he would still have a lot to offer especially
in a Beardsley type role but I wouldn't want us to break the bank or the wage
structure to get him back.

I agree with Andy (and all the others who posted the same) I have always had
a liking of this guy and such skill

I remember being in the West stand (can't recall why I was in there at the
time) and saw him in the warm up before one of his last few games before he
left. He was in the North West corner of the pitch by himself just
practicing various things with a ball, and the skill he showed just blew me
away that day I was so impressed.

Sorry to see him go - would be delirious if he came back to us
