I prefer players who've come through the academy, since I'm not Leeds born and bred I don't necessarily care if they're Alan Smith or Harry Kewell, as long as they have come up through the ranks and do the job. Mind you I remember Smith scoring his first goal for Leeds when he came on as a sub against 'pool. Nearly brought tears to my eyes. Yeah I know Kewell is blackballed but when he first played for Leeds he was bloody dynamite. If that question was directed at my post, my comments were not related at all to what nationality the players are in terms of playing for Leeds, but more a question as to anybody thought that our slight up turn in form was due to English based players and Refearns knowledge of them rather than the foreign players with little experience and tenacity of playing in the Championship. It means more to me when they're homegrown in the sense of having come through our Academy and are local lads born and bred - just as a proper Yorkshire cricket team is made up of Yorkies. If they're not of that ilk I don't care whether they're from Peterborough or Palermo as long as they put a shift in.
