From Marsch's days at Salzburg, he mentions Bielsa/Leeds at about 8:20ish:
Link . From this presentation I can see the
tactical appeal, and some of the crossover between him and Bielsa.

Obviously, if Marsch can't get the players to follow his tactical ideas,
and doesn't get his team selection/subs right, that's on him.

Been saying the same things. I genuinely couldn’t tell you what Marsch’s style 
is. We try to play out from the back, with a few extremely high risk passes 
between defenders but because it’s not as slick as under Bielsa and there’s not 
as much off the ball movement (most of the time all our forwards are in a line 
at the half way line) the ball gets punted forward anyway.
Bamford/Rodrigo doesn’t win the header and the opposition are on the attack 
again.
We’re hopelessly narrow, really poor when we lose the ball high up field and 
unless something dramatic happens, sleepwalking towards relegation.

I'd also add: watch Man City. One of the things that makes them so hard to
play against - aside from billions of petrodollars of blood money - is the
way they spread themselves across the pitch. Yes, three players will close
down the ball, but the rest hold positions ready to press the next person
the ball might go to. So Marsch has looked at the most effective side in
British football and thought, "let's do the opposite".
