None of that makes him a great interpreter. I basically figured this was deliberate on Bielsa's part. Having a 'terp whose native language is neither English nor Spanish is almost guaranteed to produce really tortured translations, and that's what we get. Cheers! Hmmm. I must admit, I did think "I wonder if I should google this guy" while I was writing that little critique! Actually though, I am going to stick to my guns. He's obviously a superbright and highly qualified bloke; but does he have the qualifications to act as a translator, which is an incredibly difficult and skilled job. I note that he linked up first with El Genius at Lille, where he was presumably translating into French. Maybe he should stick to trying to bring about world peace and writing books about Cuba and Bielsa?
