Re: [LU] The Story So Far
Hi Tim, 100% agree with you about Moore, he completely changed their game and made PNE look more like what they are. Perhaps we should all start wearing lucky blue suits too :-) Betty On 04/02/2024 10:45, tim.whe...@talk21.com wrote: Apart from all that we also need Liverpool to win the league, as they did in the last three seasons when we have been promoted to the top division (in 1964, 1990 and 2020). Watching the EFL highligts last night it was deeply hilarious to see Ipswich go 3-0 down in the manner they did, but I fear that Kieffer Moore will be an excellent loan signing for them and get a few goals by the end of the season. ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ Dave Dowden, a legend, a Totty Twin, a pie man! Why do I say this? Well mainly because our situation has always been in our own hands. Think Wendies, Rotherham, Sunderland, etc etc.. As regards a cup run, half of me thinks "ah the magic of the cup" and the other half thinks "it is adiversion from the real target". Mind you the thought of winning the cup, staying in this rather lovely league and laughing at Liverpool as we beat them at Wembley plus a trip round Europe has it's merits. One other thought, I feel our on field discipline is the best I have ever seen (excluding the red card issues which seem to have been resolved). If I had time I would look into this further. (Where are the Stattos when we need them?) In the past three years I have seen every Leeds match bar one from the comfort of the armchair (thank you whoever dreamt up Amazon's Firestick) and, although I miss being on Row W, the Adolphi and the fun of "Spadge Tours" to Europe, at 70 I am happy with my lot. Me and my mate Brian have had a lot of fun doing this much to the amusement of our fellow villagers in the pub either before or after matches. They are mainly Mags or Mackems and they provide us with lots of fun. I mean only drawing four all with a big club like Luton. And what fun when they played each other in the cup. I digress. Anyway here's to a season which continues to keep my attention firmly fixed on the league and a season where we remain unbeaten at home. Re: [LU] The story so far....
OMG (sic) - the first game I went to after relegation in '82 was Fulham away. I lived in Poplar and worked in Bow. It felt very strange and alien going up West - I'd never been on the District line went beyond Mile End before. Anyway, Dennis Irwin scored one of ours, I think John Lukic was in goal and we lost 3-2. I really didn't like the two best Fulham players though I can't remember their names now - they haunted us throughout the 80s, always scored against us for whatever teams they played for. Anyway, I must have liked Craven Cottage because I went back towards the end of the season for a midweek game against Barnsley. Barnsley, on their way down, needed to win to maintain Leeds' mathematical chance of going up. I wasn't alone, most of the "Barnsley" supporters were sad Leeds like me. Needless to say, Barnsley lost 4 nil Damian On Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 10:17 PM, Brendan Osborne wrote: > Having been battered by Fulham for most of first half (Silvestri playing > like he did against Middlesboro) we finally opened the scoring on 40 > minutes with a downward header from Byram. > > Sol Bamba scored his first goal for Leeds early in the 2nd half and Fulham > shortly after are reduced to 10 men when Stafylidis was sent off. > > Apparently we haven't beaten Fulham at Craven Cottage for 30 years! > > > MOT gents! > > > Ossie > > ___ > Leedslist mailing list > Info and options: > http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist > To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org > > John 'Grampa' Sykes > Rest In Peace old lad > 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 > MARCHING ON TOGETHER > ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org John 'Grampa' Sykes Rest In Peace old lad 28th Oct 1938 - 12 Nov 2013 MARCHING ON TOGETHER
