The Australian Greens are circulating a petition demanding that the United Nations immediately establish an International Criminal Tribunal to investigate the role played by the Indonesian government, the military and militias in the atrocities committed in East Timor and to prosecute and punish those found guilty of these crimes against humanity. The crisis in East Timor and the events of the past few weeks raise major questions about politics in Australia and the region. Come along to a teach-in this coming Sunday, October 10, organised in Melbourne by Socialist Worker.
