RE: The EVOlution
I would too but like the originals I never will unless I buy one and I'm not doing that for quite a while if ever so anybody sees one in action make sure you video it and post it Yes I know there is video coming from legacy but every bit helps Bill From: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com [mailto:legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of curt george Sent: Friday, 7 December 2012 12:16 PM To: legacy-ornamental-mills@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: The EVOlution I have to admit. the EVO looks nice. and I would not mind to play with it some to get a fuller understanding of this machine. But I would really like to compare is apples to apples. 72 or better. Why should I down size just to get a hot rod sports car model? Yes its hot, and its candy apple red, It may even get chicks? (OK may be I'm going a little to far on that one.) But What I need is a tool ! not a Toy.Its just to small. Of a matter of coarse that's just my two cents worth of it. I would be nice to see it first hand. The ornamental mill first morphed into a cnc and now it has morphed back into a manual machine as something largely new. If you just traced the lineage of the manual machines, there is a missing link in the evolutionary chain. The Evo is not conceivable without Legacy's experience with CNC's. This is most noticeable with the Z-Axis, the linear bearings, and the turning centers. I must say that the EVO has a truly developed Z Axis. I don't know how vises and other attachments will work with the EVO since the aluminum railing is gone. In general, the flat stock envelope is much different. Given the frame is loosely based on the Arty, I imagine it will come as a 36 or 58 center to center and be capable 11 inch turnings. I probably would wish for a custom made 8 footer! As teases go, this is a pretty good one, so I can't wait for the first video and the pricing.
