Re: Question for Legacy Chat 2-5-2013

2013-02-02 Thread mwfoscue
Tim,I went there and watched Tracy's video.  I also went to step 3 and provided my personal info. (Step 2 did not seem to be cooperating - I'll try again later.)  Additionally, in the Remarks box I submitted the below:  (Note, I do not think that I am actually signed up for ANY class/presentation they offer, but at least they have my comments that that is why I came to the CNC 101 website and submitted my info.)Here are the comments I submitted to Legacy:I want to sign up for the LOM "Legacy" Manual Machine discussion/seminar that is scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday 5 Feb 2013 from 1600 to 1700? MST.I am particularly interested in: 1.  What components and accessories can I/we still purchase from Legacy Corp. that will work on the manual machines that we, the LOM Google Group members own (Models 900, 1000, 1200, 1500, etc)?  You may also want to address what pieces, components, and accessories from the EVOlution are usable on our older machines.2.  I'd like to see Legacy begin offering (re-offer?) on-line classes that are useful to the MANY manual LOM owners out here.  Keep in mind that how you are perceived as treating the owners of your "less expensive" machines will affect the thoughts and purchasing decisions of future potential LOM buyers - for both the CNC's as well as the EVOlutions.3.  Re-look at how you view the MANY manual Legacy owners.  Evaluate the support you provide them and start treating them as potential future "converts" to a CNC machine - after-all, that should be their logical progression.  However, if they have less than a pleasant Customer Service experience with Legacy over the manual machine they own, they may look elsewhere for a CNC mill when the "up-grade bug" bites them.Thank you in advance for your serious consideration of my above comments/suggestions.M W Foscue-Original Message-

NO your not missing it. See below.

Here is how to join in. Go to Legacycncwoodworking.com. Under "CNC101" you
will find "On-line Training" .
Click on that and you will see Steps 1, 2 and 3. The first step has a
tutorial by Tracy on how to use the WebEx system and get it set up on your
computer.
Step 2 will take you to a WebEx list of events. Our event is not listed yet
but will be in time for the meeting. You will not need an access code.
Step 3 is your registration page.
Please go through these steps today or as soon as you can. If
you have a problem, please email or call John at Legacy for help.
There is a calendar of events but our event will not show
up there. It will be on the WebEx list of events (Step 2) and you will click on
it there to join in.

Hey folks, just remember we are visible and articulate at most of the
woodworking shows and on the internet. I appreciate all the work done by
our members in trying to gain some form of support from Legacy, but keep in
mind we are not asking for something over and above what is reasonable, but
only what should be EXPECTED from any company supplying high cost equipment
to the general public. PLEASE don't be seduced into believing we are
asking for anything more than is reasonable!!

RE: Question for Legacy Chat 2-5-2013

2013-02-02 Thread Bill Bulkeley
How about asking if legacy could post some projects for the manual owners
like they used to before the cnc mills arrived

I agree ,maybe a lesson on technique like Brandon just went through would be
good. That would cut a path across all of our manual machines. Has anyone
figured out how to tape it , I will be traveling.

I want to know what parts & accessories on/for the Evo will work on my LOM

Question 2.

Some time ago I wanted to purchase a Legacy cnc (type undetermined) but was
put off by the fact that support for the manual machines was so poor, as
demonstrated by the amount of complaints I seemed to see from our members.
There seems to have been a constant dribble of this to the extent we have

shelved any intentions of purchasing any further high dollar items from them
until I can see a definite improvement. Comments please Legacy.

Re: Question for Legacy Chat 2-5-2013

2013-02-02 Thread Ron Taylor
I am not too concerned with how Legacy may feel about being exposed as a
company that does not support it's customers, I am more concerned that
they do not have the opportunity to do the same to others who are investing
considerably more in their equipment than I ever did. By being conciliatory
and allowing them to feel we are a bunch of wimps just gives more power to
their elbow. DON'T enter this relationship as some sort of pathetic bunch
of ingrates but as an organised group of customers who by utilising the
power of the internet demand the the level of customer support they are
entitled too!!

It is a fair question. Andy will be there to answer these questions,
however I would recommend rewording it to sound a little less rash. You all
should thank Stan for putting himself out there to set this up and think
about questions with this in mind. As I said, it is a fair question but I
would have Tim reword that before he sends it to Andy and Tracy.

Just thoughts from the one that pushed to make this Q & A session from
inside.

Hello all,

Google searches. I had run into legacy videos, then started searching
anything and everything about LOM's. That was a little over two years
ago. I knew Legacy was winding down with manual mills, and this group made
owning a LOM still seem viable.

Art had the idea of starting this group, I did a lot of e-mailing of people
that Legacy had profiled on there web site. If they gave there e-mail address I
contacted them, asking if they were interested in making a web. group geared to
the owners of the LOM.
The rest is history. Its been a lot of fun, and I've learned a lot about wood
working form many of our group members here on this forum.
The Goal is still the same, To Learn and share information, Using the Legacy
Ornamental mill as one of the tools that makes my woodworking different and
somewhat unique form what you can find else-ware, from the everyday woodworker.
;-)
Thanks everyone.
Keep up the good work.
C.A.G.

I think it was Google search. It sure wasn't a Legacy referral. They have not
been very responsive to any of my inquiries.

Question 2.

Some time ago I wanted to purchase a Legacy cnc (type undetermined) but
was put off by the fact that support for the manual machines was so poor,
as demonstrated by the amount of complaints I seemed to see from our
members. There seems to have been a constant dribble of this to the extent
we have relied on support from within our group rather than from Legacy. I
have shelved any intentions of purchasing any further high dollar items
from them until I can see a definite improvement. Comments please Legacy.
