Re: something legacy and CNC

2015-04-14 Thread Barry Clarke
l’ve never had a problem with the bushings as a matter a fact l’ve even chewed
into the bushing a little bit because the bushing was a different size at the
other end or l was doing two blanks at once due to liking that particular
pen and used the rope bit over again with no problem having said that its a
good IDEA to check the pen instructions to make sure that both bushings are the
same size on both ends of the pen blank because some are different however if
your like me and like a certain pen for its style you have to put up with it.
Remember you can always transfer the pen plank over to your lath to finish it
off.

Re: something legacy and CNC

2015-04-14 Thread CURTIS GEORGE
Hello Everyone. Thank you for all your replys.
The question that I was asking was not how to make pens on the Legacy, (Ive
seen the video before) but On my 1000 the router is huge and over shadowing the
hole project, Running into bushings is one problem, but the shear size
differance, and the lack of small gear pitches, makes the size, hard to work
with, even using the 1/2 pen rope router bit. Now perhaps if someone had a LONG
router bit, so you could be a better view... ?
Now on the model 200 where the lam. router is much smaller so you can see and
adjust for the close/small project.
What I  was realy asking if you had any tricks. the might over come this size
differances.Problem... any incites or ideas are always a treasuse to me.

I have to run now.
talk to you all latter.

Don Butler,

Don’t know if you ever made a pen but you are confusing the pen blank brass
tubes with steel bushings that are prioritized for every different pen type.

Have not turned a pen on my Legacy 1200 either, seems straight forward except
that all pen kits require a set of bushings that are normally made from steel
and any contact with them would ruin an expensive router bit, the video shows

Thanks Bill.

Nice find, simple but... its what the Legacy dose best.

Bill do you belong to Lumberjocks? or is it just something that you found
surfing the web?

If you belong why not let other Legacy owners know that we are here.Perhaps
you could make an open invite. for LOM owners to check us out.

Thanks again for the link.

C.A.G.

Thank you Berry.
Those are some nice projects.

I've Never turned a pen on the Legacy, are there any tricks to it? I mean the
small size of the pen and the large router and bit over shadowing the hole...
smallness ,of the project.
Like I said This is something that I have not done before, can you give us some
better incite on your thoughts and tricks that you used to make your pen?
