2017-11-06 Thread 'joe biunno' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
hey tim!...I have not sold any split nuts...no one has asked...if anyone is
interested, contact me here, but take measurements and perhaps a photo so
it is clear that the split nuts I made are the same as what you have...joe

If that does not work, I can supply however many dogs you would like. Did Joe
B. sell all of the split nuts he made this summer?

Ok I made it on my metal lathe for my model 900 mill.

Using 2 bearings so it would be more stable when slipped over the existing
mills dead centre

And yes the ID does mach the shaft of the mills dead centre.

3 questions (approximately),

who made the live center? Was it machined special?

Why showing 2 bearings? Does it need both ?

Does the bearing ID match the diameter of the original shaft tip?

If your tailstock has a MT-2 then you can use a standard live center? I wish I
had that. I have just a solid rod grind to a point, lots of friction under
use. That’s the part I don’t like.

my old 1000ex has a De-sta-co clamp on the tail stock with a MT-2 .There is not
a lot of difference between the cam and ... but I like what I have. ;-)

i still use my original tailstock with the cam tensioner. i am curious if
anyone has this same set up? was it used on other models (which models)? if
you changed your, how? i would like to change mine, but maybe not have to
reinvent the wheel :>) looking for ideas !!
