RE: Parts and pieces still being offered

2017-11-17 Thread Bill Bulkeley
1"- 8tpi hub means instead of this type of driver hub.JPG which has a morse
taper to fit in the head stock like in the picture it will have a thread like a
nut on it which will be 1 inch diameter and a thread of 8 threads per inch and
will screw on the headstock shaft were its thread is.

Please correct me if this is not right

Thank you Mike!

That is the best news that I have heard on a long time.

If I understand you correctly,Most parts form our machines still can be bought
from Legacy, but they

do not build machines any more and will not sell the Manual machine any more ?

I am glad to hear that the confusion on this topic is NOW OVER. ;-)

Have a good night.

things.

I left a message for Cindy at Legacy and she returned my call. We had a great
conversation about the future availability of some of the parts that are
specifically for the manual machines as well as the parts that are used on both
manual and CNC. Dyna-glide as well as the index drive hubs and pilaster hubs
and lock collars. The hub receivers that were a #2 mores taper won't be
available but instead there will be the 1"- 8tpi hub that will fit all the
manual and CNC machines. She also said she stocks the old style top-hat and
rectangle glides as well as split nuts and crank handles. Also drive gears and
gear sets. She will be able to send out instructions for modifications like
the "Y" axis pattern follower so we can see what they did and could accomplish
it on our own.

Bottom line, Cindy says there will not be a full-line store front and she wants
you to call her for manual machine questions and part availability. She will
be the one to take and fill the order or she will be able to suggest alternate
courses of action. She is here to help, "Thank You Cindy!"

Re: Parts and pieces still being offered

2017-11-17 Thread donaldboettler
That's good to know about getting replace parts.
I bought the 1200 in 2005 and had used it to turn legs for chairs and
rockers people had brought to me for repairs. Just recently I used the
1200 to turn spindles and legs for some kitchen stools. Spindles that thin
are difficult to turn on the wood lathe and I don't have a draw horse so I
tried the 1200, worked very well and it speed-ed up the process.
The biggest problem I have with using the LOM is applying the process to my
builds, in the past I mostly built in the craftsman style which does
require a lot of ornate woodworking. But one of my future builds will be a
roll top desk which I will be incorporating more usage of the 1200.

God Bless

Don

Re: A response from Andy Anderson Of Legacy Regarding Support.

2017-11-17 Thread Charles Peel
I am in the group and own two ornamental mills and one legacy maverick CNC. I
have never had problems with service. Legacy staff in the past worked with me
to provide what I needed and I bought other items used. I bought the Maverick
because I like the company, I like the 5 axis capability. I have been driving
GMC trucks for going on 50 years. I have enjoyed the advancements made and
continue to buy their product. It would be a little stupid to request they
manufacture the same product I started with in 1970. If you like 5 axis
capability you need to check into there new product line.

Hello CharlesI am not a computer type of person. but I can see the value of
what the CNC world can produce, it is amazing what can be done...
Please keep us up to date with your projects and incites on YOUR Legacy. I am
looking forward to hear all about your ventures. Our goal of this group is to
learn and to grow,to become better then what we are today,  I see the easiest
way to do that, is to share information . (techniques, methods, and ideas) This
is where my focus is at. it doesn't matter where the info came form, if I can
use it to grow, then its good stuff to me. ;-)Thank you.And Again Welcome to

  Dear Tim,
I can see the confusion caused by our statement but if you understand that
support, to us, means coaching and producing new training materials for a
product and of course manufacturing means we still build new OM's then it
becomes quite clear. I can see that a longer, wordier explanation could have
been used to tell the story but I'm sure that those determined to complain
would have found something in the longer explanation to complain about too.
With a little effort say, a phone call to me, and the whole story could have
been told on the thread but telling the truth, getting the whole story onto the
forum, is not what some of those making comments on the thread intended.
Some of the claims and statements made in the thread are incorrect and some
just not true and if any of these folks had an ounce of courage they would have
spoken to me instead of wasting their time and yours in an online conversation
with others that definitely don't have the answers either.  I have an 800
number, I'm at extension 11. The call is free. I'm not hiding.  800 279 4570
If they had have called me they would find out we still sell, build, and use
index hubs in our CNC systems, pilaster dogs as well.  We still build and stock
many of the  gears and gear sets, spit nuts and other items that go missing or
wear out over time.  We sell them to people that buy second hand OMs at yard
and estate sales quite often.  Of course if these new owners were to join the
misinformed on this google group and believed the nonsense that they read they
may not been able to buy these items because they believed the myth that we
don't provide any customer service for our OM's and they would not have called
and receive the parts they needed.  You can see why I don't encourage people
to join the group. Of course, it is true, that we no longer stock many of the
parts required to build an OM from scratch.  If you back your car over your OM
in the garage I'm afraid I won't be able to help you.
Until I read through this latest thread I might have been willing to allow
someone to use my designs and drawings to build replacement parts for OM owners
but I can't see the point of working with people as misinformed, ignorant,
arrogant, and unwilling to investigate to find the truth as those that were
commenting on the thread today. If the google group forum isn't a place to find
the facts then what exactly is it's purpose?  As I pointed out in our
conversation this morning, many of the comments were made by people who don't
really want solutions, they don't want the truth, they want to do damage.
The irony is that after inflicting as much damage as they can with their
ignorant comments they complain that I don't spend enough time and money
supporting them and they complain that I'm not reasonable.  After they put in
jeopardy the jobs and the future of the 20 families that work at Legacy I am
supposed to give them whatever they want.
A reasonable request to use my designs and drawings, made directly to me not
to others
