Tim Ziegler,

At one point there was discussion here regarding that.
You were "tagged" as being referred to as either Tim Z or Tim 2 (take your
pick) - since we all kind of agree Tim Krause in Oregon is Tim 1 or Tim K (take
your pick).

Have a Blessed weekend, all ya'll - and stay warm. (Bill "D-U" excepted of
course - as it's summer Down-Under).

RE: Centering chuck?

2024-01-05 Thread bulkeley
The revo has a 5/8 strait shaft so you need a adaptor with what ever chuck
thread you have on the outside and a 5/8 hole down the middle to fit the revo
shaft .most of all the other legacys take any 1inch by 8 threads per inch
chuck.

I use several different size chucks on my legacys from little 2 inch dia chuck
right up to a big 5 inch if it fits my wood lathe it fits my legacy

Which is really handy for swapping from legacy to lathe and back again for
things like sanding

Re: REVO storage

2024-01-05 Thread Tim Ziegler
I will always be a woodworking guy just will not be commercially doing it
anymore . (well ok not as much lol)
Takes the fun out of it.
I have a box I am just finishing now actually with splined mitered corners
and the cover is a Curly maple
wrap around a walnut center. I may share once its sanded up and finished.
See if the spirit moves me to share. lol
I do a ton of box jointed boxes and also have the "I Box" by Incra Jig.
like I said along with my Omni jig and
home made ones I have my bases covered but sure would like to see how fast
and efficient the LOM does it.
So keep us posted Dan.

This will be the second attempt at finger joints, the first having turned out
equal to or better than indexed saw cut ones. Using walnut and a straight HSS

just using the crank verified by the ruler.  Because the spacing was so

Usually I stack cut ends and sides together with offset. The current saw setup
has severely limited width capacity because of a power feeder installation that
I would have to remove (very heavy).  But the REVO easily reaches 36" with no
incremental creep like on some jigs. Well, the creep would be the operator.

The fun part of this has been using FreeCAD to design the case and drawers
parametrically for the exercise of doing it.  This means that if I need to
adjust a dimension that affects other dimensions (which ones don"t?) all I have
to do is adjust a spreadsheet cell and the model recalculates everything. It's
really slick.  Combine that with exploded part capability, a whole new world of

The tube under the router is a 4" dust collection (HVAC) tube hooked up to a 3
HP Jet cyclone.  I suspended the tube on chains (not really visible) so it can
bump the ends of travel without stopping the carriage prematurely.  Combined
with the plastic shield you see in front of the router that should take care of
a high percentage of dust collection issues.  The connection to the collector

 Good job. ;-)

Bye the way, What is that galvanized ductwork up/under your carriage?

Thanks for the template cutting offer. Not needed yet.

This will be the second attempt at finger joints, the first having turned
out equal to or better than indexed saw cut ones. Using walnut and a
straight HSS bit, the tear out was far less than the saw and the accuracy
was quite good just using the crank verified by the ruler. Because the
spacing was so accurate, methinks that I can stack cut the sides and
the ends separately. Usually I stack cut ends and sides together with
offset. The current saw setup has severely limited width capacity because
of a power feeder installation that I would have to remove (very heavy).
But the REVO easily reaches 36" with no incremental creep like on some
jigs.
Well, the creep would be the operator.

The fun part of this has been using FreeCAD to design the case and drawers
parametrically for the exercise of doing it. This means that if I need to
adjust
a dimension that affects other dimensions (which ones don"t?) all I have to
do is adjust a spreadsheet cell and the model recalculates everything. It's
really slick. Combine that with exploded part capability, a whole new
world
of planning has opened up. Shop drawings look professional complete with
title blocks!
