Woodworking Show
Went to the Springfield, MA woodworking show yesterday and today. Spent more $$$ than I should have but what the heck it's only money. Saw Andy there with the Arty. Told him there was a lot of interest on the EVO. The show was good this year; maybe a little smaller than last year but not much. Peachtree out of GA had about 15% of the booth space. I was happy to see some new vendors; one notable no show was Sommerfields. Went to about 6 seminars the two days and they were good; picked up a few new tips. I would suggest if you get the chance to attend one to do so. You can prepurchase the ticket, which is good for all weekend and save $2.00. http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/ Norm -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Legacy Ornamental Mills group. Re: Off Topic But A Good Deal: Plano Glue Press with 8 ft capacity for $200 in Colorado Springs
I agree with Bill, time is money. I do alot of glue ups and I often use biscuits for alignment. The time it takes to cut the biscuit slots, get the clamps ready, do a dry run and then hope everything is properly aligned is time consuming. These verticle clamping vises are the ticket to easier glue ups. Norm --

NE Woodworking Show
To all, I apologize in advance this post may be a little long. I just spent the last three days having a great time at the woodworking show in West Springfield, MA. Previously I went for the vendor exhibits, this year I decided to take advantage of the education. I attended about a dozen seminars at nearly each seminar I picked up a new woodworking technique or at least was reminded of some I had forgotten. I highly recommend attending when the show comes to your area. BTW the show has a project judging contest, this show had only 6 entires for 3 Bosch prizes. I did get to spend a fair amount of time with Andy Anderson from Legacy. He was demonstrating how to use the Arty 58 for various turning and carving uses. He also conducted a class on how to build your passion of turning and carving into a profitable business. I am considering moving myself in the next two years from my present career into a full time woodworking career. If anyone has any feedback on the Arty or other CNC products and woodworking business in general please let me know. Anyway I probably spent too much money at the show, however you only get the chance to live once. Please don't laugh at me but I did purchase a Carvewright; I had to start somewhere. I have been wanting one of these since they debuted. I plan on providing some of my carvings to my family, friends and collegues across the country in hope that their friends and collegues would want to purchase a piece from me. Re: Some neat ideas
That is one cool tool. Any tool that gauges instead of measuring is tops in my book. I think Santa needs to put one in my stocking. I have not tried MT on the Legacy however I am going to try it. The issue I see with using the Legacy for MT work is trying to eliminate the slop in all of the axis. I actually prefer the BeadLock loose MT method. It gauges instead of measuring, at least on the same stock thickness. That's my two cents worth. Re: Introducing myself
Thanks for the welcome guys. Most of my past projects have been building cabinetry and case work. I built an Arts and Crafts inspired entertainment center that covers one wall of my TV room. I also do a fair amount of refinishing; I like to take cast off furniture and restore it back to life. Over the past three years most of my time has been spent restoring our 120 year old colonial home in CT. I am changing the style from colonial to Arts and Crafts style. I constructed all of the trim from oak plywood and oak flat stock. I will post some pics when I get back from DC. Introducing myself
Hello to all. I recently joined the group because I own a 900 mill. I have had the mill for 5 years and never really used it much; not due to disinterest but mostly time. I believe the machine is fantastic. I purchased the mill with most of the accessories and I just added the horizontal vise, rotary table and bits from Magante. I have read nearly every post on this forum and I am very excited to start using some of the knowledge I have gained by reading your posts. I hope to incorporate some of the neat upgrades you guys have made into my machine. I am also interested in some of TKs products if he still has some. I am a technical trainer for an automotive parts manufacturer. I am on the road about 140 days a year. I have been a woodworker for about 20 years now. My workshop is the basement in my home. I am looking to ramp up my woodworking capability so when I do retire in 9 years I will still have an income to support my many hobbies. My goal is to manufacturer custom products that no one has in my area. I know several contractors that build high end homes and they are always looking for something custom for their clients. I would enjoy hearing from those of you who have input on this idea. Norm Oney -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Legacy Ornamental Mills group.
