Thanks for putting the UTUBE on .Those were the days.
I started with a two man saw on my first tree I cut down, ( and soon
bought my first chain saw!! ) I kept at the logging game for the next 50
years
I felled quite a lot of trees that I was told by the owner had been planted
for the aircraft industry, mainly sycamore , Also did a lot of willow trees
that went to the cricket bat trade.
I enjoyed those days---sigh sigh

Thanks for putting the UTUBE on .Those were the days.

I started with a two man saw on my first tree I cut down,
(  and soon bought my first chain saw!! )   I kept at the
logging game for the next 50 years

I felled quite a lot of trees that I was told by the owner
had been planted for the aircraft industry, mainly
sycamore , Also did a lot of willow trees that went to the
cricket bat trade.

I enjoyed those days---sigh sigh

RE: not legacy at all

2019-08-12 Thread rkcorbettjr
I'm interested in finding out how to unsubscribe as I  have only used my legacy
to make cains and quarter columns for a chest of drawers I'm  working on.
Almost all of what I see on the emails is beyond me. Frankly, the legacy was a
gift from my wife and up until a couple of years ago I  never touched a piece
of wood, so I'm not able to exploit this tool to anywhere near its potential.
Of course, if there was someone in Maryland from whom I  could take lessons,

Otherwise I would stick around for a while and ask questions so we can offer
some assistance.  There are several members that would like to see your work.
There are several cane maker lurking in the background, maybe you could get
them talking again?

I do have to say this last month we been a little lax in keeping the messages a
little off topic. There is so much more to see if you go through the old
messages. If you do choice to leave let me be the first to say we will miss
you.  This group runs on questions and answers and even newbies are welcome

I agree with Bill. I have been woodworking for over 45 years and when I got
my Wood Chuck and Legacy last winter I had no idea of all the things
I could do. I knew some of the things it was known for but needed
direction. I picked Mike and Curtis's knowledge source continuously. I am
still learning these great machines and the more you ask and the more you
work
with it testing and trying the more excited you will get. Let your
imagination soar.
This is a great forum and the more I join in the more I get to know these
guys.
Where else can you communicate with people that are even in a different
country.

Hello RK / Mr Corbett,Where in Maryland do you live? What model Mill do you have?  Do you have any of the "accessories" that work with your Mill?  e.g. Rotary Table, Template Follower Kit, Linear Molding Kit, etc.I know there are (were) at least two members of this Group that live in Maryland.Perhaps one is within a reasonable distance for the two (or three) of you to meet up some place. As several members of this Group have stated, get yourself some inexpensive wood (like pine from a big box store), glue several up to where you have a fair size piece, and practice making some columns: taperd, roped, fluted, etc.Another thing to use it for is to make you own custom trim - like dentil molding and pilasters.I encourage you to start watching the various videos that demonstrate the many ways to enjoy the capabilities of your Mill.Best of luck.Mac  -Original Message-

I live in Dayton, MD which is in Howard County. Dayton is about 2 miles north
of Clarksville MD on Route 32.I don't  know the model# but the mill is about 6
feet long. When I  bought it it was the second largest. No  Rotary Table but I
do have a template follower and some other stuff I've  never used.I don't have
a molding kit but I  have made picture molding by attaching a plywood top to
the mill and tacking down the wood I  was working on. Also on the top I  bolted
on a round piece of plywood that I could spin so I could cut some round pieces
when I  was trying to make some plates that held a wine glass. It was only
marginally successful. My only recent work was quarter columns for a chest of
drawers I'm working on.I really appreciate your response.Russ CorbettSent from

Otherwise I would stick around for a while and ask questions so we can offer
some assistance. There are several members that would like to see your work.
There are several cane maker lurking in the background, maybe you could get
them talking again?

I do have to say this last month we been a little lax in keeping the messages a
little off topic. There is so much more to see if you go through the old
messages. If you do choice to leave let me be the first to say we will miss
you. This group runs on questions and answers and even newbies are welcome
here.

Hello RK / Mr Corbett,

Where in Maryland do you live?

What model Mill do you have?

Do you have any of the "accessories" that work with your Mill? e.g. Rotary

I know there are (were) at least two members of this Group that live in

Re: not legacy at all - BUT, Worth watching! (Mac)

2019-08-10 Thread 4 Jim Carpenter
Just watched - the first thing I noticed was the number of workers with a
tie on. Even on the assembly line !

Ladies all in nice white collared blouses and the action without any
chatting. Not like any assembly line

you can find today. Did we all come too late to pass on the manners that
many have learned and it stopped.

Did not see allot or maybe any colored.
