Membership participation has traditionally been low. People say they would like
to know about using their mills, but then never ask a question.  I've not seen
too much projects posted for a long time.

Curt and myself have tried some things to get conversation going but nothing
has worked so far. I started sending personal emails to find if the user is
still interested in the. It's a much more difficult task than I thought it
would be.

If you are out there that does not know how to add pictures to the group, send
the picture to Curt or myself.

Hey Chris and yes thanks for your input as well.
Don't let the LOM's win, they are challenging and I ask a lot of questions

projects. Prior most was production stuff for a job and can get pretty
boring showing dado's, rabbits and grooves.
I have duck call going now on the REVO HYBRID EXT. hopefully more to come

Re: Big wave

2022-03-03 Thread Chris Smith
I for one am glad you all are posting. I am mostly a turner (Jet 16-42)
but have high hopes of one day figuring out this LOM thing. It seems
daunting at times. I found someone local who has one and am going to his
shop soon for some "in person" help. I know it seems like nobody is
listening but as someone who just read the posts for some time, we do
appreciate what you all are doing.

Re: Big wave

2022-03-03 Thread Jeff Richmond
I have definitely seen more than 6 different people commenting in this group
but it depends on the subject as Curt just mentioned. We can all learn
something, even if it is what not to do, lol.

Those postings with photos tend to attract more attention. I particularly like
when an old topic is reposted as it shows the true maturity and knowledge
gained by the group as a whole and possibly with a new spin (Legacy pun
intended)

My 2022 resolution is to spend more time in the shop making sawdust and
hopefully some projects to share too.

Re: Big wave

2022-03-03 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Tim  (I have 15 min. before I have to leave...)
For some reason, people do not want to step out of the confront zone.  Most of
our group read but do not reply to posing until they either have a problem, or
something shocks then to ask, "HOW" do you do that ?
The problem that I find, is I have no idea what will ketch fire (meaning people
will post in groves...), or and what will be just a one word response.   All
that we can do is, To Keep on posting as see what happens.  I never know what
the GROUP will want to post to.
Off to work now.
Have a good day.

Hello everyone,  We Now as a group have 526 members.

I was just thinking, How many of those new members have not seen some of the

The Wave attachment is one of these tools.

Tim K. took a OT (ornamental turners) tool and re-designed it/ adapted the idea
of this tool, and made it work on the Legacy, Both Bill and my-self, Also
tried, and made our own, using Tim's concept of how it worked. (this was in the
early days of this group, and pictures were not widely used in our posting, So
we did see what Tim did, but not how he did it.

This is one reason why Tim K, Bill's and My Wave attachments all look and
perform somewhat differently.

Last week I was playing around with the wave attachment to make my second OT
box.

Here are some things that I've made with my wave attachment.

Its a neat tool, If anyone wants to make there own, I would be more then glad
to talk you though the process.

Most wood workers cant figure out how this type of cut was made. Its not hard

Re: Big wave

2022-03-03 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hey Curt as always very nice and extremely innovative. Yes I encourage all
of you to take advantage of the guidance to
build one of these. They are super cool and I love the extra appeal you
can offer that most can not do. Keep in mind this
does not just need to apply to round stock. you can do picture frame
material, boxes, flag displays. etc the idea's are
endless. the adjustments and spacing is in the eyes of the operator so
unlimited.
Again a 3D pattern basically no one else can duplicate on a traditional
lathe like we can on our LOM's

Kind Regards,

Hello everyone, We Now as a group have 526 members.

I was just thinking, How many of those new members have not seen some of the
Legacy inventions that this group has made,

Its not hard
to do, and Its fun being able to do things that others just cant figure out.
;-)

If you want to "try" Lets Play!
