LOOKS GOOD Dave!

One work of advice buy a quick release chuck for your router. The eliminator
chuck or muscle chuck are both a huge advantage over the old compression stile
router chucks.(the one that comes with your router.)
http://www.rockler.com/quick-change-musclechucktrade-musclechuck .,
http://www.amazon.com/The-Eliminator-Quick-Change-Chuck/dp/B0007OTTJM and while
we are on the topic buy both the 14 and 3/8 adapters. you will find these
little gems very handy.

I don’t have a dewalt plunge router but I do have a triton plunge router

When mounting my routers I use the thin plastic bottom plate of the router
(its usually is only held on by a couple of small screws), as a template to
mark any holes I have to drill in the mill .that way too I can measure all
round to get it centre in the legacy cross slide hole

Hi Dave
A simple way to get it centred if you have access to a wood lathe or metal for
that matter is to turn a disk the size of the Legacy router mounting plate cut
out and on that same piece of material and on the same centre line turn another
disk to match the inner diameter of your DeWalt black plastic base, I assume it
is a DW 625, and then put one disk into the Legacy router mounting plate cut
out and the other end in the DeWalt plate. Every thing is now centred and all
you have to do is drill the three holes, WARNING make sure DeWalt fits in the
router mounting plate with out fowling any other parts.
This solution is known to work and I still have the template blank in my
workshop as DeWalt 625 and Trend T-9 are very popular in Europe. This was not
my idea but of one of my customers who is now a good friend as he bought enough
product from me, well that’s what he reckons.

2015-02-18 Thread Bill Bulkeley
Man I did mine totally different I set the cross slide on zero sat the router
on with a centre point mounted where the bit goes then put a Morse centre point
in the headstock slid the saddle along and lined up the 2 points up so it was
dead centre then scribed round the router base and marked 2 spots one on the
router plastic base and one on the saddle then removed the plastic base and
placed it back on the mill without the router lining up the marks and the
scribe and marked my drill holes .

I did it this way just in case the hole in the saddle was not centred with the
headstock when it was set on zero otherwise I might have had to move the ruler
tape in the mill.
