Re: [LegacyUG] need help in fixing this problem
Pat, This can be confusing. Let me offer my observations. First, keep in mind that the Family View DISPLAY does not necessarily show families the way REPORTS do. If you have 1/2 children DISPLAY turned on, then EVERY child who is the offspring of EITHER of the parents (but not both) will be DISPLAYED marked as 1/2. a child who is the offspring of both parents will be DISPLAYED as a full child (i.e., NOT marked as 1/2). Second, if you want Ann to show as a full (not 1/2) child on the Family Group Sheet (or other REPORTS) for BOTH the 1st marriage AND the 2nd marriage, you will need to LINK her twice (as if she was born to two different sets of parents) then you would probably want to turn 1/2 children DISPLAY off (so you don't seen Ann listed twice on the Family View DISPLAY, once as full and once as 1/2). Regardless of how the children are DISPLAYED, Ann will not be duplicated on any REPORT, but will show as a full child to each set of parents. Hope this makes sense. When I right click on them under the father and 1st wife, neither show up on the Children's setting, just the daughter which should be there. I checked both boys to see if they each have duplicates. That problem is corrected. It is the same two individuals showing up as children for the father and 1st wife and the father and 2nd wife. They are children of the father and 2nd wife only (the 1st wife was dead). I don't think the program is supposed to be showing these two boys as 1/2s of the dead wife. I used to enter the 2nd marriage as a new marriage, like 1st mar. - 2nd mar. etc. A few problems occurred when the child was born after his father's death, and his mother remarried meanwhile.
