RE: [LegacyUG] Date descriptions

2008-01-17 Thread Donna Newell
I have been able to input 1843-1844, 1822-1828 with no problem. I have also
used between 1870 and 1876. I have also successfully used 14 Nov 1897-1898.
With each upgrade it has become easier to use multiple dates.

I've run into a problem with dates too.

I've known the date, such as August 10. But the year could be either 1853
or 1854. I've think I've tried the following:

10 Aug 1853-1854
10 Aug 1853-54
10 Aug 1853/1854
10 Aug 1853 or 1854

.and nothing works, it takes the highest year.

I would rather not have to use abt or ca for this as use these for dates

that are entirely approximate, such as abt June 1922

I use ca as in ca 01/23/1947 or ca 1953 for anything not exact,
possibly with a note as to why the ca.

 Dear listers:
I am looking at the options for recording approximate dates. The legacy
options are calculated or about. When I estimate dates using the year
of a census and the age of the person which wording is better to use?
 Does
anyone have personal or other guidelines for which wording to use when (no
pun intended).? Would there be a problem if I used estimated or
 approx?

RE: [LegacyUG] Return Receipts

Go to Tools, Options, Mail Format, on the line that says Compose in this
Message Format. Change to plain text on the box that is colored. See if
that helps.

RE: [LegacyUG] Adoption Question

2008-01-05 Thread Donna Newell
I think that all you would do is add the child to both fathers. First you
have a marriage between the two original parents, add the child. Do the
divorce. Add the second husband to the wife. Click add a child, select link
to an existing son. You will get the message that (Childs name) is already
a child of another family add as a child to this family also? click OK.

How do I handle a situation such as the following. I have a husband and
wife, they have a child. They divorce. The mother remarries. The new father
adopts the child and the child takes the new fathers last name.

Thanks

This is off topic but sort of related to the Clooz thread... Does anyone
know of a program that has fill-in-the blank census pages so that you can
transcribe census info easily for later use?
