Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading US Geo Database

Sherry, I have followed your instructions and I still receive the message
about the database being an older one. Guess I'll just give up. Thanks,
Lynda

Lynda,

There's no update to the Geo. You may have a corrupted database. I'd
suggest
going to Options > Customize > Other > Database Maintenance and deleting
the

existing Geo and starting over. Just follow the steps in the Geo Database
Setup window.

If you have the CD, you can just copy the geo.gdb file over to the
c:\Legacy\Geo folder. Just follow the steps under "Set the Path or Move
the
Geo Location Database" - first do the Move section to copy it from the CD
to

the hard drive and then the Set section to set to that path and file.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Even though I have followed the instructions from the Help menu, I always
receive the following message: This Region Database is an old version,
etc.

There is a newer version, etc. Go to Options -- Customize -- Other and
click Database Maintenance. Which is what I tried in the beginning. So
where have I gone wrong?

Thank you, Lynda

I find it so interesting that users are complaining about this
mailing list when there is a very simple solution . . . .

RootsWeb has had a Legacy mailing list for a few years but it is
underused because Millennia has this one.

If everyone here was to switch over to the RootsWeb Legacy mailing
list then all current mailing list problems should be solved because:

1. RootsWeb has digest messages
2. all messages are allowed through but any html is stripped out.
3. RootsWeb has an archive that works and can be both searched and
browsed.
4. Millennia support responds to messages on RootsWeb's list and
would no doubt continue to do so.

Why not scrap this non-functional mailing list??

Cheers, -- Dave N.
