Sherry,

To ignore something you assume we have control. It is your organization that
has control of the issue and the barking from fellow listers should let you
know we do not want you to ignore it.

Block the address (your statement tells us you can) until you can fix it. We do
not need a tutorial on spamming... this is a user group of your product...
let's keep that the topic and perhaps we will get back to the core purpose of
this list.

[LegacyUG] Bugs, Bugs and rush to be first.

2008-09-12 Thread Michael A. Palmieri
Fellow Listers,

I have been on the sidelines reading the banter concerning v.7 and am quite
miffed with all the bashing. I also realize that the product should not have
been released from Beta without more QC... that said.

SourceWriter, reporting tools and the new charting application will prove to
drive the industry and once adopted by end-users/genealogists "bug free" will
no doubt be an asset to their repertoire of tools not imagined some five years
ago.

In the use of new software/technology, one must realize that being the first to
adopt they will likely be second wave Beta testers. The user whose data is
mission critical should at least sit out the first few releases if generating
reports or building your cited sources list is mission critical. Obviously the
entering and capturing of data is not an issue with current bugs. It appears
that the issue is the rush to be first adopters of the new enhancements to this
viable software package.

Not to single out Ruth... she is one who should have waited out the storm. I
have received some 200+ emails alone from her this past month and not one of
them has helped me as a USER other than confirming what I stated above. Ruth is
a prime candidate to have continued using v.6 until user confidence was met in
a useable end product. Her emails and feedback to the list are my evidence.

The new enhancements, once the kinks are worked out, will make this product
stand out against rival packages as the industry leader.

In conclusion, I believe this forum is not the place to shed your tears but
rather share your experiences with other users. The vehicle to enhance the
speed of bug fixes should be directed to the appropriate email and the Legacy
support team. That said we will then be aware of issues and not pummeled with
all this gibberish.

Finally, the Legacy support team in their rush to market v.7 owe it to their
customers to take the lead on informing them, instead of just reacting to the
heat from this list of obviously dedicated customers. A simple list at the
homepage of known bugs being addressed would suffice. It is obvious that they
will be fixed and the timeframe is not the issue but rather that bugs are
fixed... period.

Speaking of miffed, I am totally taken back by one of the leaders of Legacy's
organization having his email used as a spam vehicle to this list. I don't need
a stinking Watch... I need a software package that delivers as advertised.

Legacy team what is the status of bug reporting and timeframe for an updated
release... you owe your customers this information... I'm out!!!

Sincerely,

Michael A. Palmieri

Subject: [LegacyUG] double wife

Good morning
I was noticing and family with their sibling and one was missing. I then
noticed the sibling that was missing was connected to the second wife.
The second wife and the first wife are the same person.

Now my question: If I take and merge the two wifes
ogether --that should climate this missing sibling and reduce the 2 wifes
to one --am I correct?

A second problem I just noticed is If i go back in one family line five
generations and then try to go forward one generation the parent details
are there yet the sibling/children do not show. neither their names or
any details.
My question now Should I just reinstall my back up? or do something
else?

Thank for any suggestions Oh I'm still on version 6.
Bill Daniels
