RE: [LegacyUG] using Legacy on any computer running from a USB drive

2009-04-28 Thread woolvett
Hi All
I'm running Legacy from a portable drive using VMware Thinapp, apologies to
the non technical but for others Thinapp runs through VMwares Virtual
Workstation, by installing a clean machine when Legacy or any other program
including MS Office etc is installed it takes a snapshot of the system
before and after installation, all system files are then copied into folders
of the app which is then run from a usb.
As far as data is concerned I to wouldn't trust a USB for my precious info
but by copying the data and opening the file when needed it's good for
portability and for referring to.

Mike,

As discussed many times before on the list, Legacy must be installed on the
hard drive of the computer you're using to run the program.

I would *never* trust a USB drive for valuable or sensitive personal data.

Thanks for using Legacy.

any computer that it is connected to like Portable Apps Application
?(i.e. not using the registry)

RE: [LegacyUG] Legacy index

2009-04-14 Thread woolvett
When you create your website give the homepage a different name, I call mine
startdata.html. Then upload it and in your main home page whatever refers
to your Legacy page make sure that you have the correct name.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Legacy index

I have a website at www.saragosa.net <http://www.saragosa.net/> . the index
for the homepage is index.html. Legacy uses index.htm. Now I have the
problem that when someone types in the URL for my website, it opens
index.htm (Legacy) instead of index.html (my homepage). This is rather
unusual, but it's happened in the past. Once my web hosting service made an
adjustment, and I was back on track. But now that it's happened again, my
web service says I should rename the Legacy index and that would fix the
problem. I can see how it would, but I don't know how to get Legacy to use
a different index name automatically. I suppose I could go into my file
each time I "create web pages" on Legacy and manually change the index name,
but that seems such a bother. Anyone know how to fix this?

Frank

[LegacyUG] Unsubstantiated link

2008-03-02 Thread Brian Woolvett
Hi

I'm new to this group so bear with me, I have a possible link back from my
8x great grandfather, as yet this is not 100% certain but a good
probability, how in Legacy can I indicate that fact.

Any help much appreciated.
