MDB Viewer Plus requires no install to run provided that Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) is installed on your computer (In most versions of Windows this is the case). MDB Viewer Plus has been written to provide a free and quick easy way to view, edit and search MDB files without having Microsoft Access installed. It is not a full database development solution but does allow you to view MDB files without an Access license End quote I have used it and it is convenient for a quick look or edit. -- Gene Y. n2kvs Researching Young, Zies, Harer & Cox with Legacy Family Tree http://h1.ripway.com/egptech/ Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp

Re: [LegacyUG] Access database
If the file is supposed to be a Legacy file (I don't think the OP specified), they should just rename it to .fdb and open it in Legacy. -- Dennis Kowallek (LTools) http://zippersoftware.com/ltools http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ltools *** On Wed, 22 Jul 2009 14:40:36 -0500, RUNION ROBERT wrote: >You might try inserting your MS OFFICE 2003 disc in you drive and see >if the Access program isn't there. Re: [LegacyUG] Access database
You might try inserting your MS OFFICE 2003 disc in you drive and see if the Access program isn't there. I have MS Office 2003 and there are about 8 programs on it, including Access. Try installing it. Bob On Jul 22, 2009, at 2:29 PM, Pat Jones wrote: I was just sent a file with an extension of .mdb and can't open it. [LegacyUG] Access database
I was just sent a file with an extension of .mdb and can't open it. I find that extension is for an Access database and I don't have Access on my computer. I'm running XP and MS Office 2003. Can anyone of you computer geeks out there tell me how I can open this file some other way? I have no knowledge of Access so is there some way for the owner of the database to move the file to something I can open?
