[LegacyUG] Re: New Version of Legacy
Alan, What features are you looking for? Maybe if you mentioned them in the list the programmers will hear about it. Or someone will mention an obscure program that you have not heard about that does that. Re: [LegacyUG] Re: New Version of Legacy
Well here goes my mention of my desired feature I would like to have a place to check to have death dates show like birthdates and anniversary dates do presently. I have many family members on Find A Grave as well as friends and acquaintances that I would like to be reminded of so that I can go leave virtual flowers and thoughts at virtual grave sites. I live in a wheelchair and rarely get to go see the REAL ones near by , so this feature would make me very happy. Yes, I do remember my parents deaths as well as my son and husband but there are others that I do not remember and I think this feature would be fabulous for LEGACY. RE: [LegacyUG] Re: New Version of Legacy/FTM 2008
Hi Alan, I know this is a little off topic, but I thought my brief experience might be useful to Legacy users who might vaguely be considering moving to the new FTM. Just out of interest, I downloaded the beta version of Family Tree Maker 2008. It took me ages ( my broadband isn't that bad). It didn't import the GEDCOM file sufficiently well - lots of errors. I quite liked the map feature (it incorporates Microsoft virtual world, I think it's called). The programme wanted to keep closing. In the end I let it, uninstalled it and binned it. Now, I know it's only the beta version I probably didn't give it a good enough chance, but the import situation was a good enough reason in itself why I will not be wasting my money on this. If other programmes can import accurately why not FTM. (I'm not inviting a discussion!) So thank you for the opportunity of confirming that Legacy is still the best of the bunch, closely followed by Roots magic (for charts etc). I look forward to the new Legacy release. It WILL be better than the new FTM 2008 - it is already. RE: [LegacyUG] Re: New Version of Legacy/FTM 2008
There are a few reports I really enjoyed when I was an FTM user, reports that I have sorely missed since becoming a Legacy user. Although, I am overall happier with Legacy than FTM. I have tried many times and with various version combinations to transfer data between Legacy and FTM to utilize some of those FTM reports but I have yet to succeed in getting a good data transfer. RM is much better but it also lacks a few FTM things I liked. C.G.
