[LegacyUG] Sorting sources

2007-09-15 Thread Pat Hickin
If I want to start getting my sources better organized and more uniform,
would it be best to do that now (with v.6 . . .) or wait till we have
version 7??

Thanks.

Pat:

I'm sorting and cleaning up my Master Source list: sorting into categories,
putting the names in a uniform format, checking to see that I have
publication data where appropriate, editing repositories and comments, etc.
I'm hoping that starting with a relatively clean and uniform Master Source
list will allow an easier conversion to the new Legacy format--if I choose
to use it. If I don't like it for some reason, there's no wasted effort.

Hi Pat,

"If I want to start getting my sources better organized and more
uniform, would it be best to do that now (with v.6 . . .) or wait till

If you don't include your sources now, as you enter your data, will you
remember each and every item you've entered that needs a source attached
by the time you acquire v7, to go back and add it? I know I wouldn't.

If I were you, I would either (a) attach source information as the data
is entered regardless of what version is being used, or (b) hold off
entering anything new until v7 is installed. I wouldn't rely on
remembering to go back and include the source information at a later date.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard

Sorry, slow reading my email. The sources are there, Wendy, just need them
to be better organized, more uniform/consistent, etc. I just don't want to
move components around, etc., and then want to do it differently once I have
v7. But there are a lot of things I could do without a problem, I think.
I'm very much a splitter so there may be a lot to do.
