Hi Gary,
An alternative to digest, which you've now discovered isn't available
for this list any more, is to use a filter in your mail box to direct
the incoming list mail to its own folder. This means the list mail is
kept away from mail addressed directly to you, and you can look at it
any time you like without it getting in the way.
If you belong to other lists, you may like to consider taking the same
action, with a separate folder and filter for each list.
We have discussed this several times, and you can find the past posts in
the archives. One of them tells you that there are instructions on my
personal web site for setting a filter for a list where I am an
assistant to the list owner, and these instructions can be modified for
any discussion list. You'll find them at
http://www.geocities.com/wendy_m_howard/How-to.htm#RuleFilter
By directing the posts into their own folder, you can scan through the
list of posts and choose which you want to read, rather like you used to
be able to do with the digest. You also have the ability to delete any
and all posts, as you choose, without having to open and read them. And
you can save those individual posts that contain information you want to
keep. This way, you're much more likely to pick up on topics of
interest than you would if you unsubbed from this list and just checked
the archives from time to time.
Hope this helps. :-)
Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard

Thank you to Sharon, Wendy, Cathy, and Leo for responding to my request
for unknown name recording ideas.
Having just re-subscribed to this list after some months' absence, I
just learned there is no digest option. I discovered this when no
reference to digest in the application instructions could be found.
After a quick keyword search of the archives, question answered.
Apparently many, many others were also surprised to learn no digest mode
is available.
My infrequency in posting just doesn't justify wading through so many
individual emails; I'm unsubscribing and will revert back to scanning
the archives page.
