You do not need additional software to use the SourceWriter function. On the
Options menu, click the Sources tab, and at the bottom left of the screen,
check which system you want to use. If you check the Basic System and always
ask, you can choose which format to use each time you add a new source.

In most cases, I see no need to worry much about converting the older Basic
format to Sourcewriter format for everyone in my database, but then my database
is 20+ years old, dating back to the time there was no ability in any program
to add sources.

I manually convert (i.e. add a Sourcewriter source and delete the old Basic
format) only when I have a specific need, i.e. when I'm doing indepth research
on a few individuals.

2009-07-17 Thread RICHARD SCHULTHIES

Are you refering to the dot attached to Sourcewriter, Which is the way it
works, but since I have directories Sourced both ways, they sort together,
ignoring the dot. The conversion system is not yet implemented, and is not in
the near future yet. We presently must go in, cut and paste from Basic to SW,
source at a time. I am not holding my breath.

2009-07-16 Thread Leonard Johnson Sweden
Thank you so much for the link. I have now downloaded the software. This
software seems to be designed to work with Legacy. I know that Geoff at
Millennia was working on somethings similiar, but that has not come so far.
I have used the basic sourcing function in Legacy, but want to be able to
use SourceWriter, now I should be able to use the SourceWriter function.
Thanks again for the link.

Hi Sue,

It is not very clear just what you want but Legacy 7 cannot convert
basic source to sourcewriter. You need a separate program. The best
and cheapest is ltools which is designed for Legacy. MS Access is next
choice. Open Office (actually cheapest - free) should also work but
someone else would have to advise about that.
