The way I would do this is make the event the Obituary and the
source the newspaper the In Memoriam notice came from, citing
In Memoriam notice, date and page/column number if known in
Details. In Source Text, you could copy the entire announcement.

This source could apply to other details mentioned in the
announcement - for example, death date, names of relatives etc.

I would enter it as a Newspaper Article event. The actual In
Memoriam could also be used as a source for the death
information.

I have come across an In Memoriam entry in an old
newspaper that covers the death of three (3) family
members; I note and appreciate the advice of how to
enter an obituary but would appreciate the advice and
guidance from the group on how to record this In
Memoriam information into Legacy.

Yes, go to Options, Customise, Sources and look at Source Detail
Defaults. If you tick the boxes you want, this will make the
information appear on reports and also be exported to a gedcom.

You can also have them NOT appear on reports, but be exported to
gedcom, if on the GEDCOM Export screen you tick Override Source
options - include all source information.
