Here's mine:

Still rather simple at the moment.  The top page is hand
coded, but most of the rest is Legacy 7.  I'm working now to
completely redo the whole thing, add photo albums, add reports for
individuals, etc., and will move it off rootsweb onto my own
domain,
.

Re: [LegacyUG] Is there a listing of websites created using Legacy

2009-02-27 Thread Linda McCauley
Sean,
Mine is http://www.lfmccauley.com/. The front end pages (anything from
the navigation bar) were created with another software but the Family
Tree File was created by Legacy using the "pedigree" style. I'm happy
with the Legacy generated pages because I like having pictures mixed
in with the person's info (which I couldn't easily do with my previous
software). To see examples with the pictures, click on some of the
names in the home page narrative.

RE: [LegacyUG] Is there a listing of websites created using Legacy

2009-02-27 Thread ronald ferguson

Dennis,

The following Legacy codings are now controlled by css ie. changed to id or
class:
Background color - for consistency
font family (one of these days I'll include font size)
font colors
'Window sizes' - Pedigree Pages
window background-color
window border-color
h tags
strong tag
a tags

I would like to get rid of the table tags but cannot see an easy way of doing
this yet. CSS3 or CSS4 may help, but at the expense of the IE6 users, who will
have to put up with an inferior presentation if they wish to continue to use
this outdated, and nonstandards complient browser instead of IE7, IE8,
Firefox3, Opera and even Google Chrome (Safari to a lesser extent but I expect
it to catch up).

RE: [LegacyUG] Is there a listing of websites created using Legacy

2009-02-27 Thread ronald ferguson

Sorry for the typo! Yes, it should have been PSPad.

I Have used php for the searchable Parish Registers and in conjunction with
javascript to enable the use of individual family trees on each of the Pedigree
Pages for some time. The coding for these being on link pages. However I wanted
to include the name of the pedigree "page holder" into the page header, which
meant the use of php on each page and hence the change from html to php in the
page extensions.

At the moment the site is a little bit inconsistent as I have had to change
from one server to another this week, and I will not be doing a complete update
until tonight when everything will come together again (I hope).

Branko and Chris,

It is not such a huge problem if you have a program such as PHPad which allows
block search and replace - I have approaching 6000 files, and with the
technique I have it doesn't take long to make all my changes - maybe a couple

RE: [LegacyUG] Is there a listing of websites created using Legacy

2009-02-27 Thread Branko and Chris
Hi Ron,

Thanks for the hint, I had a look at your web tutorial and am familiar with
using css files etc but as I have over 700 html files (it's a huge tree I
have) it's a task every time I update the pages. I would prefer to change
the original Legacy code so that it auto references a css file when it
generates the html pages, simpler and cleaner, but that's a wish list.

Many Thanks
Branko and Chris

Branko and Chris,

If you know CSS it is not too difficult to change much of it to CSS - see
the Web Tutorials on http://www.fergys.co.uk/ for a starter. I can probably
change more but have not got round to it.

Sean,

You might like to consider joining the WUL group which offers detailed help
(including coding) with Legacy websites see:
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/WUL/

You will also find in the LINKS section a number of Legacy based sites.

The URLs for 2 of my own sites are below.

RE: [LegacyUG] Is there a listing of websites created using Legacy

2009-02-27 Thread Branko and Chris
Hi Sean,

I use it and while not necessarily 100% happy with output it does work.
Because of privacy law's only a small amount of info is shown.

I would love if one day Legacy is updated to use CSS style sheets, but for
now stuck with their style.

Have a look at our web site.

Many Thanks

Hi,

I'm still trying to come to grips with creating a website using Legacy. I'd
be interested in seeing what other people have managed. Thanks,
