Re: [LegacyUG] Share or copy sources between Family files

2008-01-13 Thread Carl Cox
I'm researching two family lines, so I can keep each line in its own
Legacy Family file. At times, I have a need to cite a source that was cited
in the other file. Is there a way to copy the source from one file to the
other without having to manually recreate it?

I often have two files open on the split screen view. It is easy to put the
same information on both files, as the program stores the information from
the edit screen until the next screen is saved. I enter information on a
person in one database, and after it is saved I go to the other database and
pull up the same person, then just click the 'given', 'born', and 'in'
labels. I suspect you can do the same type of entry with the clipboard as
you do in a single file.

Hi Carl,

The Source Clipboard will not transfer from one file to another. In split
screen select master file (one with all sources).
View / Master Lists / Source / Tag sources you want to esport to the 2nd
file.

Close
Select the file you want source(s) imported to
View / Master Lists / Source / Options / Import Lists /
Under Master Sources Check Tagged only
Not sure here but first try without Master Sources checked or you may import
all.sources
If that doesn't import anything check both Master Sources and Tagged only
boxes

Let us know which way gets just the tagged sources.

Good luck

2008-01-13 Thread RICHARD SCHULTHIES
I used to have multiple files, but combined them all a
few years ago, but here is what I did to fix this
then.
Create a person, mine was named Dummy Person, sex ?.
Add the source to Dummy, then gedcom 1 person (Dummy)
to the other file. You can use it to move all sorts of
stuff.
