Re: [LegacyUG] Sourcing a second Residence Event trouble

2008-02-22 Thread Cathy

Hi Dennis,

1) You don't have to go to the Assigned Sources window to assign a
source using the Source Clipboard. You just have to have the cursor
in the event you want to source.

2) It sounds like on the Assigned Sources window you have unchecked
Show all events

Hi,
I entered the first Residence Event for this person and sourced it without a
problem. The source shows up correctly across from the Residence Event name
in the Assigned Sources list for the person.

I then tried entering a second Residence Event for the same person based on
a different source than the first. I can add the Event ok but when I
highlight the event in the events list, then click my sources icon, I expect
the highlight to be on a newly added Residence event in the Assigned Sources
list so that I can copy my source from the clipboard to source it. Instead,
the highlight is showing on the NAME event and there is no second Residence
event in the list to even highlight.

I'm pretty sure I have had no problems adding more than one Residence event
and sourcing them before. Wonder if something changed in the newest Legacy
update??

Can anyone duplicate this problem or is there anyone who knows what I am
doing wrong? Thanks for your help!

Dennis

RE: [LegacyUG] Sourcing a second Residence Event trouble

2008-02-22 Thread Dennis Davenport
Thanks for the reply Cathy. Yes, I did have Show All Events unchecked.
That seems to have fixed the problem.

However, it is interesting that you say I don't have to be in the assigned
sources window to copy a source from the clipboard because I tried it
several times and it gave me a message saying that the cursor was not in a
field that could accept a source (I'm paraphrasing here). But that was when
I still had Show All Events unchecked. So apparently the Show All Events
box can determine whether the clipboard is operational for certain events or
not. Now though, I can't get that message to pop up whether the box is
checked or not--go figure! Thanks for helping me out here--at least I can
now continue to source events!

Can I ask about something else? I added a Cause of Death event via the
Indiv Information event screen. Why doesn't the information I entered for
cause of death show up in the family view for this person? Cause of Death
is one of my 5 customized display choices for the family view. I've always
wondered about this.

In what I am reading, it might be that you are not
adding it to the second event, but the first (again).
If I am wrong, sorry.

The Cause of Death that shows up in the family view (if selected) isn't one
of the events. You enter it by going into notes, selecting the Medical tab,
and filling in the Cause of Death field there
