Re: [LegacyUG] using Legacy on any computer running from a USB drive
Hi Mary I use and run most of my programs(email, web browser, open office) from a 160GB USB drive that I move to any computer I am using at the moment and it would be nice to run Legacy from it.(when the USB drive is removed there is no trace of it on the host computer, so could be used on computers in institutions ) Mike Mary Young wrote: What is the point of the question? RE: [LegacyUG] using Legacy on any computer running from a USB drive
Mike, As discussed many times before on the list, Legacy must be installed on the hard drive of the computer you're using to run the program. I would *never* trust a USB drive for valuable or sensitive personal data. Thanks for using Legacy. RE: [LegacyUG] using Legacy on any computer running from a USB drive
Hi All I'm running Legacy from a portable drive using VMware Thinapp, apologies to the non technical but for others Thinapp runs through VMwares Virtual Workstation, by installing a clean machine when Legacy or any other program including MS Office etc is installed it takes a snapshot of the system before and after installation, all system files are then copied into folders of the app which is then run from a usb. As far as data is concerned I to wouldn't trust a USB for my precious info but by copying the data and opening the file when needed it's good for portability and for referring to.
