[LegacyUG] Cycle through a search list

2010-08-08 Thread Noddie
Hi there
This has probably been covered at some, and if so I apologize for that
I remember in earlier versions of Legacy I used to cycle through a
search list once I had created it.
For the life of me i cannot remember the key or shortcut to achieve
this.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Ta for that

Gwen

[LegacyUG] Pictures in Legacy Charting

2010-08-08 Thread Emily Rosenberg
Where do I select whether or not to include a person's picture in the chart

Can I include picture for some but not all people

Can I adjust the size of the picture if I am using it from the person's
"gallery: in Legacy 7.4

Is there a way to determine page size so that I can fine tune my layout for
11 inch or 14 inch paper? I know I can change orientation but that doesn't
address it for me.

Thanks so much

[LegacyUG] Re: Help with Advanced Sourcing Tool

2010-08-08 Thread Kevin Walker
To answer my own question, through experimentation, I discovered the
Advanced Sourcing tool does precisely what it says it will -- apply
the source to any field that contains information. This includes
those that already have a source.

Attention Legacy programmers, it would have been more helpful if I
could have specified to only have those fields without a source
receive the new source. Thank you.

Please forgive me, I am new here.  I will try to be more careful in the future.

I try to live by the dictum "treat others the way you would want to be
treated in the same way."  When I see a newb making mistakes of
etiquette I prefer sending them a kind personal reminder, or even a
kind public reminder, both are preferable to humiliating them.

But I am sure this post is a breach of etiquette too, so I had better let it go.

Cheers.

HOWEVER, what if I used the tool a second time but with a new source, for

When you select Advanced Sourcing you have the option to assign the
Source to "All fields that contain information" or to "Specific fields
(if they contain information)" and the latter gives you a choice of 18
fields to choose from.

I see no reason why it shouldn't work in exactly the same way every time
you use it, so it's up to you each time to select which fields you wish
to Source.

Re: [LegacyUG] Help with Advanced Sourcing Tool

Kevin,

I haven't checked, but it should do what you tell it to do, ie. apply the
Sources to all tagged individuals.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Help with Advanced Sourcing Tool

I understand that if I tag a group of individuals I can use the Advanced
Sourcing tool to apply a source to all fields for those tagged individuals
that contain information. Very cool!

HOWEVER, what if I used the tool a second time but with a new source, for
those same tagged individuals, what happens? Will the tool apply the new
source to only those field that lack a source, or will it apply the new
source to all fields "that contain information" including those that already
have a source?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [LegacyUG] Search for event details

2010-08-08 Thread Ron Ferguson
Gwen,

You can minimise the number of returns by selecting as before but also use
AND born after a date of your choosing to eliminate those whose are probably
dead.
