Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Deluxe Internet search bug?

2011-04-22 Thread Brian/Support
The programmer has responded to the problem report I entered. He has
decided that there is too much complication it trying to sort out what
part of a date is marked private so it can be treated as a good date.
Legacy allows many forms for entering dates and trying to sort out each
form when only part of the date is marked private is very complicated.
Also there is no way to remember which part of the date is private
once it has been marked as a good date that is private. Only dates that
are fully marked as private will be recognized as good dates.
Fortunately the reports do look for privacy markings within the bad date
since those are stored exactly as the user entered the date complete
with markings and will suppress the portion marked as private.

Legacy will therefore continue to pop up the unrecognized date screen if
you have date checking turned on in Options Customize Dates and have
entered a date that is only partly marked as private.

Olwyn,

Dogging me, I went to the extreme to get what I think you want from an FGS all
from within Legacy. Mind you, it is fiddly and if you wanted all information to
be like this, then you'd have to treat your whole db like this.

I was able to get the FGS to look like this:
http://www.easygensolutions.com/software/fgs-new.png
I was able to do this within Legacy without the need to export to Adobe (which
I don't have anyway).

You can test this on a test file if you want to see whether it is a viable
solution for you.
To get Legacy to look like this:

Menu: Reports Reports Menu (Charts) Family

Olwyn,

FGS data place placement in the report is hard coded with the Husband in the
top position and the wife in the second position followed by the children.

You can however change the title if you wish. The default is “Family Group
Record for [FullName]”

You can change this to:
Family Group Record for [WifeFullName] and [HusbFullName]

Or as you suggested:
Direct Descendants of [WifeFullName] and [HusbFullName]

Simply make this change in the Reports Reports menu (Chart) Family, then
make the necessary change in the “Title for the Family Group Record” text box.

Mark, I should have said thank you so much for going to this much effort for
me. For printing purposes this exactly what I want to see. There will be a
few I need to print in this method but if the direct descendant is male I will
revert to the standard format. It will be worth it for me. This is how I want
to see it when I flick through the printed pages - the direct descendant in the
top placement. Again many thanks Olwyn

2011-04-22 Thread RICHARD SCHULTHIES
With the potential problems list there are a few choices.
1. Information is correct, out of 'reccommended' range.
2. Change the range or
3. Check the box that corresponds to the problem.
Example: I have people that lived over 100. I check the box 'Warn if death
after 100 years'.  Then the program 'knows' to not mention these people when PP
is run. Are you saying you have checked some 'Warn' and they still show up on
the next Potential Problems Report?
You may have to find if you did the correct checkbox. It took me a while to
choose them all. some people I needed to add 3 or more checks.
