Re: [LegacyUG] error number 3800 " 'LastFirst' is not an index in this table"
Hello Sherry Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have looked at the Legacy site and don't think that fix would help. I have the .fdb file on a thumb drive and the same error message appears on my laptop with Windows 7 and the PC with Windows Vista, and also occurs when I drag the file to the desktop and try to open it on both units. Alan, Take a look at www.LegacyFamilyTree.com > Help Center > Technical Support > Solutions by Error Number. If those steps don't help you, please direct this query to supp...@legacyfamilytree.com We'll also need to know which version of Windows you have. [LegacyUG] error number 3800 " 'LastFirst' is not an index in this table"
Hello Support, I have been using the Legacy programme for about ten years and have been very happy with your software. I encountered an unexpected problem today. I am still using Legacy Version 5.0.0.261. The .fdb file is 89 MB in size and I was about to do a check/repair to reduce its size when I received the following message: H. it appears an unexpected error has happened. It is error number 3800 " 'LastFirst' is not an index in this table" and happened at: Index View.IndexViewOpenDB-0. We would appreciate it if you would tell us about this. Please send us an email at supp...@milleniacorp.com Thank you very much for your help in this matter. Click OK to continue on with the program. When I click OK, I get the following message: Run-time error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set The problem is with the main .fdb file and not the Legacy software, because I can open other backup files. I hope you can please help me sort this out. In my book, the second page, is a listing of all abbreviations I use in my book. At first, I wasn't going to put one in, and after someone asked me if "NMN" meant "namaste," I knew I had to put one in! "NMN" means no middle name. Thanks. PDF is not a "picture" format so it cannot be handled by Legacy in the same way that it handles picture formats such as JPG or TIF (there are others.) Legacy has the capability built into it to read and display pictures and even, to a limited degree, edit them. It does not have the capability to read and display DOCs or PDFs or all the other proprietary formats which different programs create. Re: [LegacyUG] How to update multiple source details?
Kevin, There is a very good reason for saving a pdf as a file – you cannot save it as a picture! You can only save pictures/images as pictures, these will have the extensions like jpg, jpeg, tiff, png, bmp, gif. Anything which is in a text format such as txt, pdf, rtf, doc, etc. have to be saved as files – in other words you can regard “files” as “text”. Naturally, videos are saved as videos and sound files as Sound. Alan, Thanks for the ideas. So, it seems, from the lack of response, that there is not a way to update all source details with a new picture location. How about just changing a picture filename in order to clean up those? Any shortcuts that will avoid major editing of each event source? BTW, is there a reason to save pdfs of censuses, for example, as files rather than pictures? I’m still real confused by all of this. Thanks again everyone. I keep all media files outside Legacy but reference them by name & location either within the source detail or in specific notes (General, Birth, Christening, Death, Burial & Marriage). This, as with census material, does require lengthy transcription but it does mean that pretty well all source detail can be changed via the Global Find/Replace as I am only dealing with text. You can tag a specific master source, generate a search list and produce an events report containing the sources applicable to that event to look for inconsistencies in source detail. Re: [LegacyUG] Quirk of the latest update?
Can anyone explain why new updates seem to automatically change random settings from time to time (and how it can be prevented)? I’ve had to go back and customize settings more than a few times in the last few years immediately after an update. Some of the most recent have been color scheme and font style/size. Take a look at the LUG Guidelines at http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp The list is for discussing Legacy and the add-on programs. [LegacyUG] Quirk of the latest update?
I have a question? Lately I've had to specify which database to open each time I open Legacy. Is this new to the latest update to the program? Is there some switch I just need to re-throw. I really miss the old version where it would open the last file I had accessed. It does still open the database I select to the last record I was on. [LegacyUG] 2-way Events
There are quite a few Events one might want to add to a person's record which can be either "done to" or "done by" and of course it makes a big difference in the Sentence structure. One example: Godparents. One might want to record that somebody's Godparents were Joe Bloggs and Fanny Adams, or one might want to record that Joe Bloggs was a Godparent of Jane Doe. Another example: One might want to record that Joe Bloggs was granted Probate of Fanny Adams's Will, or one might to record that Fanny Adams's Will was Probated by Joe Bloggs. (Sometimes the only Source I have is the National Probate Calendar, not details of the actual Will.) I'd be interested to know how other Luggers deal with this situation. Failing coming up with another Event Name which makes sense (which I haven't had much success with) it seems to me that the best way is to ignore Description (which I usually use for most Events) and put all the relevant information in the Event Notes so the wording can be varied according to circumstance. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
