Re: [LegacyUG] one Question

2013-05-12 Thread donvarn...@gmail.com
I don't believe you can change the gender if a marriage record exists or if
there are any children attached to the individual. In order to change genders
if this were the case you must first detach the person from the marriage or
remove any children.  Also keep in mind there cannot be two members of the same
sex attached to the a marriage record.

[LegacyUG] Ordering Social Security records

2013-05-12 Thread Kathy Meyer
Does anyone have a successful way to search records to come up with a list
of people who would be good prospects for ordering their Social Security
records?

I know they would have had to have died after 1936. I'm not sure if women
registered or not or if everyone registered or if it was just a random
thing for registration. I don't want to pay $29 just to find out the
person never applied for social security or registered with the system.
They're not always on the SSDI because if the family didn't apply for death
benefits, they wouldn't be on there.

Anyone have a good way to create such a list to consider? I tried but it
was too general - too big. I have the deluxe version.

Feel free to reply privately if you have any attachments to share that
couldn't be sent thru the list.

Thanks!! Kathy

Re: [LegacyUG] Strange behaviour

2013-05-12 Thread Brian/Support
It is not a bug, when you remove the tag they are no longer on the list
at all. That is why Legacy issues the message and has to re-find someone
who is on the tag list.

[LegacyUG] Strange behaviour

2013-05-12 Thread Tony Rolfe
Thanks to everyone for the advice and especially to Sherry for pointing
out the easy way to do this.

However, it does look like a bug. Editing the first person in the
tagged list and then untagging them puts them at the end of the list.
I'll report it shortly.

Cheers

Re: [LegacyUG] Organization of Photos, Scanned Documents and etc.

2013-05-12 Thread saare
I use a surname format. Each surname gets a folder in SS Pics (Scharpf-Saar)
folder. Then the picture gets named for what it is, ie Smith, John -
obituary, Smith, John - grave, etc. If there are two people with the same
name, I name it Smith, John 1835 - obituary (the 1835 represents the birth
year of the person). I have 417 surname folders with thousands of files.
Perhaps this system won't work in the future, but for now it works great for
me. Just another way that's very simple.
