Using PC with Windows 7 Legacy 8 now when doing backup to sync with Families
Legacy saves as .zip instead of .fdb as previously used. How do I change saving
data back to .fdb.

Many thanks

Thanks Geoff, another great webinar.
You mentioned today that all (or most or some) of the Quickguides are
available for the Kindle at Amazon.
I've looked but can't seem to find any. Are they in a special spot? I've
been looking/searching on Kindle ebooks, all books, etc. but can't seem to
locate them.
Do you have a quick guide to the Kindle Quickguides :-)

[LegacyUG] How to: Double Click to change family

2014-01-22 Thread J N
OK, I'm tired of looking, hopefully someone on here will already know the
answer...
How do you change the default from a single click to move a person to the
head of the family in 'Family View' to a double click? I could do it in
the 7.5 vs., but can't find it in vs 8. For example, I would like it to
open a child in the family to the head of the household/family position
only if I double click them. A single click should give me a pop-up on
that individual's info. So, does anyone know where I go in the program to
set this as the default?

Thanks,
Julie

Not a "narrative" report - only the Individual Report, which is a
chart style, like the Family Group report.

On the Reports ribbon, it's under "Chart Reports"

Didn't there used to be an "Individual Narrative Report"? I do not find
it now. It appears to have been changed to sort of a family group sheet
format for an individual. Is the Individual Narrative not available any

It is only the NUMERIC date format that must be the same between Legacy and
Windows so that both treat an input of 1/6/2010 as the same date (1 Jun 2010 or
1 Jan 2010 depending on the Numeric date format). Once a date has been entered
and interpreted you can DISPLAY the date in any way you choose.

I was not following the thread so I do not know what the original problem was
but displaying the month as January vice Jan should not cause any problems
unless the person with the problem is using one of the international versions.
I just input a problem report today where some of the international versions
are reporting dates using valid prefixes like abt, bef, aft etc. as bad dates
and some are not recognizing the names of the months in the non-English
languages so they are reported as bad dates.

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy not backing up

2014-01-22 Thread Brian/Support
That is just the way the installation is set up. Some files are not
copied if they already exist others are always copied or are copied if
the installation includes a newer (based on the time stamp for the file)
version. It does not indicate the original installation was incomplete
in any way.

You need to set the account you are using to send messages in Plain Text.

Right-click on the parent folder where you receive your LUG messages -
the one that's in bold - it might be called Gmail on your system.
Select Settings from the menu which appears, then select Composition &
Addressing and, if necessary UN tick the box for Compose messages in
HTML format.

Re: [LegacyUG] media gallery

2014-01-22 Thread Randy Clark
Replying to my own post.
When in Media Gallery with *All Pictures selected it seems that the
uneditables are ones that may only be highlighted when a different option
is selected from the dropdown list in the upper left. A starred item must
be selected. There are several options named *Census. How was the list
populated?
Using the "correct" option it is then possible to select and caption
individual censuses. Except for 1930 census. I've yet to determine which
dropdown item will allow me to work with it.
