RE: [LegacyUG] Neat mug shots
Jenny, Sorry about the shameless plug, but also have a look at my tutorial: http://www.easygensolutions.com/tute_msp-01.php Hope this helps as it uses the free IrfanView software to do the same thing. I've still yet to do the tute for the GIMP, but IrfanView is up and running. Geoff sized one photo as he wanted it, then using Adobe Photoshop Elements he dragged that picture on top of another one which caused the second one to be adjusted to the same size. I have not been able to do this. I rather think Geoff was using either version 11 or 12 of Elements and I only have version 10. Does anyone know if this facility was a feature that was only introduced after version 10, or is it likely that I am doing something wrong? -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). RE: [LegacyUG] C/R ending in General Notes
That would work, Jenny, but in playing around with all of the other Notes (Marriage, Death, Events, etc.) it seems that something has changed to General Notes in that it is the ONLY one that won’t allow an ending C/R. I’m not sure if that happened on the last update or earlier but I feel certain that it all worked just 6 months ago. For example, if you were to type “and they lived happily ever after.” And then hit the C/R key to move the cursor to the next line, then hit SAVE. Then reopen the Notes and notice where your text ends by clicking to place the cursor at the very end. You’ll find your ending blank line has been stripped out. Try the same thing in Marriage Notes and it is not stripped out. I usually end my notes with such a blank line because of formatting reasons in various Reports but now Legacy won’t allow that. Anyone else seeing this? Yes! Re: [LegacyUG] Neat mug shots
VERY nice tutorials. Excellent screen tips in the graphics, and I like your do ONLY one info. However, is there a way to get the steps to be in bigger windows(frames?)? Also, it is impossible to print the tips - the only thing that shows is what is in the frame. If you don't want to change the screen setup, maybe you can add a print tip button/link? [LegacyUG] About merging order
Is there a set guideline or merging order for merging into the middle of a family? I have often found myself with a merge and it leaves double parents or double wives or , well you get the drift. Is there a specific order to follow that will avoid most of these duplications. I have noticed sometimes the merge goes as planned and others not. Hope this makes sense. Ian My photographs don't do me justice -they just look like me. re: [LegacyUG] About merging order
Ian, When merging duplicate records within your family file, Legacy's Automerge feature can be used to automatically merge records that it determines are most certainly the same person. After the first pair of duplicates is encountered that can be AutoMerged, Legacy offers to run through the entire merge and do all the remaining Automerge pairs all at once. This can usually save a substantial amount of time. This option is called IntelliPass. To let Legacy continue with this pass, click Yes.
