[LegacyUG] Changing size of columns

2017-01-29 Thread Sarah Lange
Is there a way to change the column width on a "canned" printout, such
as the Event Report? I am doing a report on census events and the
column is quite wide and the only think in it is a four digit year.
I'd like to make that column smaller so I can make another column
bigger and thus save space on the total number of pages required for
the report. Any suggestions?

I would avoid merges until you are more experienced and confident that
you know what you are doing.

I very rarely use the merge facility because I prefer to do my own
research and add people and their data step by step as I make the
discoveries for myself. It might seem to take a little longer that way,
but you are fully in control and it's much more difficult to make a mistake.

Of course, the golden rule before doing a merge or in many other
situations (before a Check & Repair, example) - is to make a backup. If
it all goes pear-shaped it is very easy to revert to the backup and try
again.

Re: [LegacyUG] Family File

2017-01-29 Thread Gloria DeSousa
You've been a tremendous help Cathy. The key is what you wrote in your last
sentence "You use a Legacy backup from within Legacy. You go to File -
Restore." I was going into File Explorer instead (I use Carbonite to sync
to the cloud). It also helps to know why there isn't an Undo. Wish there
was :-) I have trouble with Merges as well. I know there's the Undo Merge,
but don't have a good handle on merging yet. I'm learning.

Thanks for all your very valuable help,
Gloria
