Re: [LegacyUG] Error 3049 when running file maintenance/check repair

2017-10-25 Thread Cathy Pinner

Contact Support.

If you've been using the SourceWriter you've now converted all your
sources to Basic so you may want to restore a backup from before you
created the gedcom since that didn't fix your problem.

Each time I have tried to run the check/repair tool I get a 3049 error.

I have exported the file as a gedcom and reimported to Legacy
following the recommendations on the error messages website.

Unfortunately after import I get the same errors. It appears to fail
between operation 203 and 204 as if I end (option "no") I get the
message that the maintenance has completed

I have also tried the check/repair on a different family file, albeit
smaller, and it works fine.

Has anyone got an Idea how to fix.

I have check that the file dao360.dll is in the corrected directories

Re: [LegacyUG] Unspecified 'event'

2017-10-25 Thread Charlene A Williamson
I saw this feature a while back, but didn't need it. Today, however, I ran
a test and it works.

If you go to the Master Source referenced in the "unspecified event;" go to
the Master Source List; find it, and do a "Show List," it not only shows
you the list, but has an option to "Delete this Master Source and All
Citations to it."

Warning: If the Master Source is used in another event, (ie: Residence,
Birth, etc..), it will delete it their also.

Hope this helps.

Good Morning,
Open the 'Name view' list, and click on the 'Sources' tab.
Using the down arrow on your keyboard, scroll down through each name,
keeping an eye on the events as you go. This is the quickest way to find
the 'unspecified event - when you find one, delete it.

Unfortunately one at a time is the only way...
If you have 15,000 individuals... Start at RIN#1 and go to #2 then #3, etc.

There is no way to tag or search for these individuals.

Hi,
I have many individuals which have a source assigned to the Unspecified 'event'
in the Assigned Sources window. This has mostly occurred when adding data from
Gedcom files.
I now wish to delete all the sources from the Unspecified 'event', does anyone
know how to do this or if it is even possible from within Legacy V9?

Re: [LegacyUG] Unspecified 'event'

2017-10-25 Thread Leon Chapman
Geoff:

It's a problem. It has been requested to add a search feature so you could
locate those people with an Unspecified source. So far, that feature has
not been implemented.

The unspecified sourcing used to come from FamilySearch trees when you
transferred an individual to your DB.
That has been fixed and the LDS sourcing does not attach a source to the
unspecified source field.

I do not know of a way to even locate the people that have the source in
the unspecified field.

There are ways to do it in MS Access if you had the skills to tackle that
problem. You would want to backup your DB before trying anything in MS
Access.

I do not have a solution for you.

It would be good to formally submit this as a new search feature for Legacy.
