Check the help file "Copying between Family Files.
It is simply a drag and drop function.

[LegacyUG] Moving people from one family file to another one

2018-12-31 Thread Valerie Garton
Is there an easy way of doing this eg by split screen ? Or do I have to
select them for a gedcom, export that gedcom and then import that gedcom
into the other file and then go back and delete those individuals from the
original file?

Re: [LegacyUG] Trying to do a gedcom which comes up as a word document

2018-12-31 Thread Cathy Pinner

Fix what?
A gedcom is a plain text file in a specific format.
You've opened it in Word?
Or it's picked up a file association to Word?
Or ???
The file association it has only affects how it opens if you double
click on it.
However if you opened it in Word and then saved in Word format, you'll
have to go back and save it again as plain text. Then if you change the
extension from txt to ged it might work.
