[LegacyUG] Assigned Sources screen Column Width
On the Assigned Sources screen (from the Family Screen > Source Icon >).On the table, is there a way to adjust the column widths semi-permanently. Currently I can set the width of each column so that the Detail column is expanded, but each time I get back into the Assigned Sources page I have to reset the column widths again? -- LegacyUserGroup mailing list LegacyUserGroup@legacyusers.com To manage your subscription and unsubscribe http://legacyusers.com/mailman/listinfo/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com Archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/
Re: [LegacyUG] How best to keep track
I like the event method that has been suggested. In addition to marking it private and exclude from potential problems, you may also want to exclude Show a description field show a place'? So I just record a date. The date represents the last time I checked/verified FamilySearch Family Tree with Legacy Family Tree. In addition, I then customized one of the fields on the family page with my FSFT LFT checked Event. I use the display name, FS Checked. Now anytime I am on the family page I can easily see the last time I did a through review between the two. Of course if needed, once you have your event set up you could search for that event-with a date or without a date etc. or go the tagging route. Remember that you can mark an Event as Private or to be excluded from Potential Problem alerts, either on an individual level or globally for a particular Event Name which you might want to do. I'm not sure but I think running Tools / Potential Problems report may show the people with the bad event name. Made the suggestion. Was told how to do it with tagging. Did the tagging, using tag#4 only to discover that only the first 3 tags show on the Name List...I knew that... So...cleared out tag#2, tagged the unlinked people with #2, listed them again went to each one to click on tag#4 to remove it. EXCEPT...I came to my 6th Great Grandparents...they are unlinked. My 5th G-Grandmother is shown as their daughter, she shows them as her parents. The have a marriage date, they are shown as married...BUT...he is listed as my 6th G-Grandfather but she has no relationship shown at all and they come up as unlinked. Automatic Sorting Legacy 8 sorts spouses, children, and events by dates automatically upon entry -- this is a major savings in time when it comes to data entry. This option along is worth every penny of the upgrade. 2. Statistics The Origins Report, migration report, statistics and enhance mapping are great new features. 3. The Potential Problems Alerts and Gaps Duplicate checking These features are great and will definitely help keep a better, more accurate database of your family and events. 4. The Media Relinker and Gatherer are very powerful tools to bring your pictures together into a better structured location. 5. The new User Interface - probably should be #1 on the list The new modern user interface brings almost every option out to the user in a simple intuitive graphic icon format. It is so much easier to use and find what you want to do with this new user interface. Without question, this is the single most important part of the new Legacy 8 that the user touches during almost any operation within Legacy 8. 6. FamilySearch Integration This feature has greatly been improved and provides an enormous FREE resource to millions of family trees available at FamilySearch.org http://FamilySearch.org that is very nicely integrated into Legacy 8. You can add new people to your tree from the FamilySearch Trees with sourcing with just a few clicks of the mouse. Sourcing is automatic when you add a person to your database from FamilySearch.org http://FamilySearch.org. You will find it difficult at best to do something similar at other websites like Ancestry.com http://Ancestry.com (Oh! Buy the way, that will cost you $300-400/year to have a membership to access their database). The $30-40 price of Legacy 8 seems like a bargain, upgrading is even cheaper. 7. Other new features I won't spend time on them here, but each of them provides additional reasons for upgrading to Legacy 8. In my opinion, Legacy 8 is truly the best genealogy software on the market today

I have raised a ticket about this with Legacy but that was 9 days ago and I have had no response. Does anybody else have the same problem? The problem is this: I share a census event where the owner - head of household - and one of his sons have the same name. When I do an individual or family group sheet with the option to include event sharers set, then in the Owner's shared list the son of the same name is missing. All others who share the event include the full list. If I change the son's name, for example, by adding Jr so that he does not have the same name, then he shows up in the list.
