Brett,
What version of Legacy are you both using? Since Legacy7.0 a date and time
has automatically been added to the backup file name, or have you set it so
that they are not included? I regularly backup during the course of a day,
if I have added a large(ish) number of individuals, and copy the last backup
to the cloud at the end of the day (where I always keep the previous backup
as well).

Hi.
I am not sure on the origin of this thread, but a quick comment on the
backup process described.
If your Legacy data file is damaged/corrupted/"you hit a wrong key"/etc, and
hence you want to "step back" to save re-entering all your data, then you
can't. You only have the corrupt data and a zipped copy of same. I find it
prudent to keep copies regularly - not over-written by the Legacy backup zip
process. Just add a date to the file name every now and then, and cut to a
CD (also every now and then but longer intervals!). Decide how many days
data entry you want to repeat to determine how often to put a copy aside.
Cheers, Brett

For instance, when I open the program, it automatically opens to the .fdb
file on my computer's hard drive. I back up my Legacy file on a peripheral
hard drive every time I sign off from a session - back up overwrites the
existing .zip file there so I have an up to date back up "in the vault".
I only need to access that back up file if something goes terribly wrong
with my computer's hard drive, knock on plastic!
I'd create another back up file, too, because if it was me, I'd lose that
flash drive the first chance I got. I recently left mine in a computer at
the library and had to go running back from my car to retrieve it. Doh!
