I still have I compare both files, lots of times I have data on the PC that is
no longer on the Laptop, please keep in mind I only use the PC, I compare first
then delete the file, and Restore with a new backup, I have done this for
years, its been about 3 times this year that this has happened.
I the File maintenance and I gained over 00 people on y data base, I guess the
missing data is back on the database, I sue to do file maintenance on when I
got errors. next time I will save the code,Thanks for your help,I will now use
File maintenance, once a weeks instead of when I get error, all back to normal
for now.

We need a lot more information before we can help you.

Yoy say you are getting an error:  what is the Error Number or Message
that you get?

Where is your media stored?  What have you entered at Option 6.2?  Are
you getting any error messages when you try to relink your media?

Please try and explain exactly what you are doing and exactly what happens.

2019-09-24 Thread George Pacheco via LegacyUserGroup
Hi,
Does anyone have this issue?
I have an issue, with Legacy, I keep loosing data, I keep getting an error when
entering an individual, My database is over 171,000 people, and Media gets
disconnect, I keep  doping a relink. and it doesn't link, I have switched to
legacy from PAF, I have had it since windows 7 came out, I hate to switch, but
this has happened many times, I could use some feed back, why this
happens.Thanks,
George Pacheco

I think you need to do this.
On the file that you were modifying you need to locate all of the modified
individuals and export those to a new database, and then merge that file back
into your original file.
You can find the modified records by using the search to look for everyone with
an update date after you started working on the wrong file. Then put a tag on
those entries and use the export against those by using that tag.
Merging those, and only those, will mean that they will be the only ones to
merge.

Hi,For whatever reason I can no longer recall, I began a "new" family file
using  my older family file, meaning it was the same file but different name. I
obviously then forgot to move to my main family file to continue doing my usual
inputting of information and where I do all my work. Unknowingly, I kept
working on this "new" file for 11 days before I switched back to the family
file I always work with, and the only file I want. I want to move only the
portion that is new from the new file to the more established file, where I
should have been inputting information in the first place. I tried many things,
such as importing the entire "new" file into the established file but with over
30,000 individuals in my tree, that produced 900,000 duplications to review
based on the criteria I chose. I tried the help index, read up on tagging and
hashtags, to no avail. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help,Gloria--
