This is required only if linking the son to the mother/father via the
relevant parent as an Existing son - not required if working from son's
profile and adding mother/father as an 'existing person'.

Re: [LegacyUG] Entering a sibling without parents

2016-02-25 Thread Leslie Thompson

although I'm working on it. ;)"/

I would Add: New Unlinked Individual; and create Nicolaus' profile - I
would then decide if his link to the chosen family is thru' his father
or mother, and take note of their Rin.No.
Back to Nicolaus' new profile, right click empty space at top for either
mother or father, click Add Mother/Father and enter the relevant
parent's Rin.No. ( It should leave the father's name blank, or rather
leave the space empty for later in case you find Nicolaus' father, say,
was in fact from a second union by his mother, so you can right-click
and pop the new daddy in.)This will show as the 2nd "m" , and when
you click on m1 for him/her, sitting there as 1/2 siblings, should be
Maria and Susanna.

If you lata find Nicolaus is in fact a full brother to Maria and
Susanna, go to parents' in Family View and
Add: Nicolaus as An Existing Person. then remove Nicolaus from the m2
link from the relevant parent, and then delete the marriage link
attached to eith the father/mother.

If Nicolas, Maria and Susanna had other sisters and brothers, their
surname and/or married names known but christian names not - I enter
each as Miss with their m.names in brackets after e.g. Miss (m.Smith);
Mr (m.Brown) just to make it a little quicker/easier to recognise later
when further details emerge, removing this reference later if/when
desired. If I do not know someone's surname., I enter their Christian
names into the Surname Box, so they're searchable in the Index.

Hope all that's clearer than mud.
