Well, I am concerned about the spam stuff. I never opened the 3 that came
in here and did not receive any more. I have unsubscribed but will read

Re: [LegacyUG] Source Problem--HELP

2016-02-27 Thread Mary Lou Rogers
Please send it to me and then I will be certain I have the correct
information. I THINK the problem arose in the switch from
FTMaker to Legacy but I truly do not know.I only use Legacy now. This
will take us a bit of time to "digest"! Thank you so very much for
answering my questions. You are MUCH appreciated, believe me. Mary Lou

[LegacyUG] Source Problem--HELP

2016-02-27 Thread Mary Lou Rogers
When I choose the Master Source of Newspaper every one automatically has
the following added to their information .

Title— The New Castle Courier, New Castle, Indiana, USA

Publication Facts--Source: Transcription by Mary Lou Rogers on February
13, 2011.

Mrs. Luellen of near Rogersville buried on last Saturday at the Rogersville
cemetery., I think her burial date would be December 13, 1884 and this was
Abigail Jones daughter of Benjamin & Elizabeth)

I only need that fact for one person and it has been entered into each and
every time I choose Newspaper. I now have it in hundreds of various people
as their (incorrect) source. How do I get out of this problem?

1. Is there a way to Search and Replace all of them at once?

2. Is there a way to stop having this continue?

3. I am guessing since I entered it in 2011, this started when I moved
my information from Family Treemaker to Legacy? We used a GED to do this.

I love Legacy and feel Sourcing is important but should be explained in
the language of those of us who are not computer programmers or as
knowledgeable as perhaps we should be. This has really become a major and
frustrating issue in my tree. Thank you so very much! Mary Lou

[LegacyUG] Question about Sources

2015-07-18 Thread Mary Lou Rogers
My question refers to deleting a master source. Several years ago we began
using Legacy 7 and transferred the family file from the Family Tree Maker
genealogy program. This family file had been developed over many years and
had in excess of 15,000 individuals. After the transfer we found that
there
are about 1,000 individuals who have a Master Source of "newspaper" with
text that reads identically on each one and was correct for only one of the
individuals. It appears that everyone who had "newspaper" in the FTM
program was combined into one "newspaper" master source in the master
source
list and connected to all these 1,000 individuals when it was only correct
for one of them and possible overwrote information on the source for the
other 999 individuals. I am aware of how to delete a master source but am
wondering if this is the only thing to do or if there is any way to recover
the source information that was possibly overwritten? Thank you for any
suggestions or information you may make that will help.

[LegacyUG] GenDexNetwork.org Supports Legacy Gendex Files

2013-04-15 Thread Mary Lou Rogers
Hello,

Hey, guys/gals can we move on? The very first time, a few weeks ago, when I
read your messages you were in a controversy over something and I sure wondered
what on earth was going on. This does not make new people feel very confidant
or warm about Legacy. Also, please give us new people a bit of leeway if we do
post to the wrong list. I, for one, find the two lists confusing and it does
not sound like I am the only one. I doubt the gentleman telling us about the
GenDexNetwork meant any harm and was trying to help the rest of us who are not
that experienced with Legacy.

Mary Lou
