[LegacyUG] User IDs

2010-06-24 Thread Peter Abbott
I have just over 7600 individual users in Legacy and recently I tried
copying an entry from another legacy file. This meant that the RIN jumped
and I now have a range from 356611040 to 3556611075.

Is it possible to reassign these RINs to follow on in sequence and if so how
do I locate the highest 'good' one i.e. somewhere in the 76?? Range.

Ii have looked at LTOOLS but that does not seem to have a solution.

Many thanks

Whilst a lot of people use this forum to propose enhancements, it is not
the correct place to do so. You run the risk of your pet idea being
missed by the people that matter. The proper way to request a change is
via the facility that is listed on the Legacy Home tab - Suggest A New
Feature.

Make you request through that link and then come back here for the
inevitable discussion. :-)

I would like to request 'Advanced marriage tagging' features. What I have a
mind is something similar as the Advanced tagging for individual tags. I have
looked in the archived messages and there does not appear to have been a

If Legacy can't do it you can use 'Search and Replace' on the Gedcom
file in a word processor, resaving Gedcom as a .txt file.

I have been keeping my relevant pictures in the Legacy\Pictures
directory but under separate sub-directories for each family file, eg.

c:\Legacy\Pictures\ (for the main family)

c:\Legacy\Pictures\Smith

c:\Legacy\Pictures\Jones

etc. but have found that Legacy reverts to c:\Legacy\Pictures\ for all
pictures causing confusion about the exact location of each picture.

I'd like to change directory locations but first would like to confirm
something. To my understanding, it doesn't matter where pictures for
each family file are located as long as the correct address is entered
in Options - Locations. Is it possible to put pictures in a directory on
another hard drive in the same computer, eg. having the Legacy operating
files including Data on C drive and Pictures on D drive?

Hi Peter,

Ltools works great for marriage tagging and displaying but not Legacy.

Go to , select tab, select , = ‘Marriage Date’,

set to ‘Equal’, and leave as a blank. Create
list. Then use Options-Advanced

tagging as needed.

Is it possible to select marriages with say a blank date and then set one of
the marriage tags for all the selected marriages. I cannot find ‘Advanced
tagging’ features for the marriage tags only the individual ones.

Thanks
