Yes there is. It is the second paragraph on the link It states the
following right on the offer site!!!

"This offer includes a *Price Lock Guarantee:* the subscription price
will never
increase in the future."

 Easy - basic economics.

The reason that My Heritage is making this special offer is to grow
their market. They already have subscribers, who, at least the vast
majority, don't need cossetting to remain. Exisiting customers are unlikely
to put themselves through the difficulty and time of creating new accounts.

The way for My Heritage to make more money is with new customers, not
giving money away via special deals to existing ones.

It always ticks me off when *EXISTING, LOYAL* customers are exempt
 from special deals.

Should I cancel my current subscription and wait until the 9th and sign
up for this deal? Or should I delete my current MyHeritage account and tree
and sign up with a new identification

Re: [LegacyUG] Hello from MyHeritage + 2 unique offers

2017-09-11 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
I don't know why people ASSUME that they can't get the deal because they
already have a subscription. I called and asked and got it. I didn't have
to sign up with a new name, or cancel, or anything. It was easy and they
were nice as pie.

Secondly, the price lock mention was in the email. It states

"PLUS: Those who subscribe before Sunday night, September 10, will
enjoy a *Price-Lock
Guarantee*. For as long as you keep the subscription, the price will remain
50% discounted and will never increase in the future. This is a unique
offer that MyHeritage is giving *only* to Legacy users and webinar viewers."

When you click on the link, it brings you to MyHeritage and the last
sentence on the second paragragh says very clearly that the price is
locked.

OK, Strange you should ask but I have a brand new mouse. The problem
existed with both mice. It ONLY happens in Legacy 8 since the upgrade. I am
going back to Legacy 7 or will find another program that works. I am
impatient (as you can tell) but otherwise nice :) I worked in the computer
industry for years maintaining and building systems for lawfirms. I have a

No, that is not the case. I have been a Legacy user since the very
beginning and I am very familiar with the way the program works. If you
look back a few days ago when I first wrote about it, others are having the
same problem. I cannot click to add a child, but must use the down menu, I
cannot disconnect a child by clicking, I must use the little icon. Now I
cannot add a source by clicking on a source icon. There is a problem with
the new version of Legacy. I have no trouble with Legacy 7, so I do know
how to click. Also with a database of over 55,000 people I am definitely
sure I learned how to click along the way.

Re: [LegacyUG] Right clicking or clicking

2014-05-28 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
Perhaps that is the problem. It is rather unfortunate as I do love Legacy
and the interface. I would rather go back to Version 7 which worked quickly
and smoothly. I don't even mind using the menu buttons if I have to. I have
gotten quite used to using the button for adding children when I used to
just click or right click, but cannot do that for disconnecting children or
spouses. It is most frustrating having to click a dozen times or more
waiting and wondering if it will work.

Hopefully one of the smart Legacy techs will come up with a solution. Oh
yes, I compact and run file maintenance almost daily.

Thanks,
Vivian

[LegacyUG] Right clicking or clicking

2014-05-28 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
Since the new release of Legacy 8 clicking does not work for me or is
extremely slow. If I want to add a child clicking will not work and I have
to use the pull down menu. If I wish to disconnect a child from it's
parents or a spouse I have to click multiple times in order to get the menu
to come up. Is there a setting to change? I am a woman of little patience
so it gets frustrating.

I have an Acer Aspire with 6GB RAM and a 1T disc with less than half in
use. I do have the latest version of Legacy. I have installed, uninstalled,
reinstalled, shut down, restarted, clicked my heels together three times,
wished upon a star, and threw a coin in the fountain, etc.

If there is another way to disconnect a spouse or child, I would use it but
these are the only instructions.

***
To reach this screen, right-click on a person on the Family or Pedigree
View and choose Unlink / From Parents.

When you choose to unlink an individual from their parents, you are telling
Legacy to break the tie that exists between that person and their parents
and their siblings (if any). Unlinking a person does not delete the
individual from the Family File. It simply disconnects him or her from
having a child relationship to the current parents and a brother-sister
relationship with any siblings.

Before completing the unlink command, Legacy displays a window containing
the name of the parents and a list of any siblings currently linked to the
individual. You can then complete the unlinking by clicking Yes or abort
the command by clicking Cancel.

Looking for a solution,
Vivian

Re: [LegacyUG] Any suggestions? Picture Gallery trouble in Master Source picture gallery - family bible TIF's

2012-05-31 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
Hi Sherry,

That may be so, but in watching the video of Geoff adding cemetery
photos, he added very large sized images and even spoke of adding
photos in higher resolution and why you might want to do so. If it was
a problem I don't believe he would have spoke on adding high
resolution images. I would like to add that I have even come across
the same problem in the source picture if I added 2 census images that
were over 2MB. There are many reasons why you may wish to have a
larger photo. What puzzles me is if Legacy is only providing the link
to the photo, then it should not matter what size the image is. I am
not trying to open a large photo, I am just trying to open the Photo
Gallery.

Well, if you read the Revision History for 12 Feb 2012 before you
upgraded it tells you:

Changed Items

Geo Location Database - It will now return "United States" instead of
"USA" when selecting a location from the USA.

I usually look at the changes before I update to see if I really wish
to update at this time :)

Re: [LegacyUG] from DENMARK

2011-11-15 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
Tim,

Thank you. I am aware of the large file size problem as I have run
into that myself. Although it is interesting when you watch the
Cemeteries Webcast that Geoff does indeed attach large photos.

The photo in question was not large, and was in jpg format. I spent a
lot of time loading, unloading, redownloading, etc. but the same thing
happened everytime. I opened the photo in my photo program and made a
small change (I can't remember if I saved it at 99% or resized minus a
couple of pixels) and resaved it with the same name etc. and it seemed
to work. I am pretty savvy at computers having worked the industry as
a tech :-) I wish I could recall which one it was as I would forward
it for investigation. It was a real puzzle. The photo in question would
have been around 500kb or smaller.

Re: [LegacyUG] Source Detail Problem

2011-11-01 Thread Vivian Gullickson White
Sherry,

Thank you. I was going to the Source Detail screen and it wasn't
there. The option was selected in the Options > Customize > Sources
under
> "Source Clipboard - Prompt for Detail".

The confusion started with the source clipboard. There are 3 options
to check at the bottom of the screen

- include this Citation on Reports
- Verified
- prompt for detail

On the "Edit the Source Detail" only the first 2 options are there,
and not the "prompt for detail".
