Thanks Priscilla!
I really appreciate your idea. That might be a good solution for me. I will
investigate.

Re: [LegacyUG] Attaching a PDF file to email

2014-09-23 Thread Stu and Priscilla Fanning
Hi Margaret,
When I save either a document, photo or a pdf, I rarely save it where the
computer would automatically save it. I choose a file -- "documents" sounds
like a good place for what you are saving or you could try a thumb drive that
you have connected. If you have a lot of pdfs for a particular family, make a
new folder in "documents" or on the thumb drive with the family name. Or maybe
you would rather make a file or folder there with the name "Legacy" and then
another file or folder within "Legacy" with the family name. That way you
could have several folders there with different family names with multiple
documents in them.
Perhaps you are wondering how to get to "documents". In my computer
there is an arrow pointing up next to the location that is originally offered.
Continue to go up until you find "This PC" which, at least in my computer, lists

desktop
documents
downloads
music
pictures
videos
and any thumb drive that you might have connected.

Note where it is that you file the pdf and then when you want to add it
to your e-mail, you will be able to go right to "documents" or the thumb drive
or wherever you have saved it.

I hate it when I cannot find something!!

I wish there was someone within 1 or 2 hours from the Raleigh, NC area who
could help me straighten out the locations of where my Legacy files sit. I
messed everything up when I went to Legacy 8 and now realized that some of
my files, including the DATA for PDF files is still sitting on the "C"
Drive and not under documents. I just don't know how to straighten it all
out, as I have a number of family files.

Thank you all for your replies. You made me think about this mess and if I
went back to C:Legacy and then Data, that is where all my PDF files are
saved and are still going there.

This old brain of mine, does not always work the way I need it to.

Thanks again.

When you try to attach the pdf to the email and the Windows dialog box comes up
make sure that ALL FILES is selected in the dropdown box at the bottom. If the
email thinks you are attaching a photo, it might have that box set to image

When you get the attach-it screen, down where it wants the
file name? Look at the next line and be sure it says ALL FILES.

You can't use Legacy to view PDF files!

Re: [LegacyUG] Attaching a PDF file to email

2014-09-23 Thread Margaret Gagliardi
I did that and my PDF files are going to Data. However, when I go to attach
the PDF file, I cannot view it. At one time, it kept asking me in which
view I wanted to see my files - one where I saw all the PDF's and the
Family Files when I went to open them or if I only wanted to see the family
files to choose from. I guess I chose to only see family files and now I
cannot see the PDF's. Where can I change that setting?
Thanks
Margaret

2014-09-23 Thread Michele/Support
The best way to figure out where the pdf went is to create another one. When
the Windows box comes up on your screen where you need to give the pdf a name,
look and see WHERE the pdf is saving too. You can then exit out without
actually saving the second pdf. You should now know where the first pdf is.

Help!

I just created a PDF file of a family group sheet and want to attach it to an
email. However, I cannot find it under 'DATA". Where did it go and how can I
find it?

Thanks

Margaret
