Note that if you've chosen Initial Caps, once you enter one capital, it
reverts to Don't change what I enter as Legacy assumes you know what
 you're
doing once you add capitals. See the Help which explains this.

 That's a weird auto-capitalisation though.

If you're using Legacy 8, you could go to Customiuse>Option 3.6 and
check "Don't change what I enter", but this could be problematic if
you aren't careful about capitalisation when ent ering other locations.

The same problem happens with AYR, Queensland, Australia. I had Ayr

Re: [LegacyUG] Autocapitalizing location?

2016-04-19 Thread Brian L. Lightfoot
Prior to a user submitting a problem report to support, I would think it a
good idea for the user to post the problem on the LUG to verify if other
users can replicate the problem and to avoid the cause being isolated to
just one user. Once verified by others, then it's a good idea for the
original poster to submit the problem report to support.

By the way, if somebody else beats the original poster to the report
submission to support, then it's no big deal. No points, awards, or cash is
given out to the user who first submits a report nor to any user who submits
the most reports. You don't even get an "attaboy/attagirl".

I have created a report for this problem but if you have confirmed a problem
report it to support either using the report a problem link in the Legacy
Home tab of the program or on our web site. Threads on the LUG are not the
way to ensure that a report is submitted for a confirmed problem, they may
well be missed since we do not always read every message.

Re: [LegacyUG] Autocapitalizing location?

2016-04-19 Thread Elizabeth Lindsay
I periodically go through the Master Lists, especially the surname list and
location list, to check that all the entries are correct. I often find that
when I have entered a location I have missed a letter, or reversed a couple of
letters, or that I need to find out more information about a place.

“Don’t change what I enter” is really useful because family names/ surnames can
have a mix of lower and upper case, e.g de la Pole, de Vallibus, etc. so while
I set the program so that the first name is automatically capitalised, I want
the family/surname to be as I enter it. If I make an error, it is easy to fix
by editing the surname list.

H, does April 15 have anything to do with it? :)

If you're using Legacy 8, you could go to Customiuse>Option 3.6 and
check "Don't change what I enter", but this could be problematic if
you aren't careful about capitalisation when entering other locations.

typo again. NOW it is in the master list in caps. I edited it, closed out
of the master list, clicked around on a few other screens, and when I came
back to it, yes, it had changed to all caps - in the master list and in the
data entry pages.

Re: [LegacyUG] Autocapitalizing location?

2016-04-18 Thread Linda Greethurst
Scott,
I tried it in the Sample family, and it DID capitalize the city name of
Ira. Not initially, but after I moved my cursor from the program to my
other monitor, all of a sudden, it is in CAPS.

I think we need help from the Legacy people on this one. I will be
interested in seeing the solution.

Go into your master list for location to see if you have used IRA as a place
name for something else. I have had this happen.

Hi. Legacy seems to be autocapitalizing Ira, NY to IRA, NY. I can't figure out
why. Only the town, not the county (Cayuga County). Can someone else test this:

Ira, Cayuga County, New York, USA

and see if it changes the R and A to caps?
